wurenben: 4. Only one playable race : The important feature of Homm/AoW series is multiple races. And in domions 3 , you got millions of choices with Race-God-Magic-Dominion combination, that greatly increases replay value. So I hope there are more races to select in this game.
I thought about this a bit and came to the conclusion that Eador does not need this because it already has it! You can already get access to creatures from many factions in your castle, and the others you can get unlimited from neutral buildings, limited from the Inn and the necro faction from summons.
Only chaos is missing, but thats the enemy of all in the game. (Well only short term summons and guards) But I could see a chaos faction being available, with some modified demesne buildings. I mean it would mostly be the same, but you get the Devil and are the enemy of everyone.Could be cool, maybe in an addon?

I do miss custom item creation and Master-Wizard attributes customization from Master of Magic, though.

wurenben: 5. Upgraded port lets you move through 2 sea provinces.
I tried , but I didn't work for 2 sea
2 sea is available after the third port upgrade.
About chaos. The spell Dark Pact in third circle of Demonic magic gives a unit ability to be resurrected as demonic unit of same rank, the unit after conversion stays in same slot in your army for ever. Plus second circle of demonic magic gives ritual that summons demons to your army (imps, hounds and devils. The name might be wrong since I mainly played Russian version).

So if you invest some in demonic magic (or get lucky with scroll) you can have full Chaos army in Eador.

The only unit you cant fully get in game (atleast Genesis) is Dragon. There is problem with getting Medusas and Giants (only mercenarys). I hope they will add (or have added) events locations or some spells that allow to get them.

Also Unicorns. There is rare event that allows you to tame one, along with mercenary route.

Hydras, Phoenixes, Treemen, Stone Golems, Manticores, Basilisks, Slugs, Giant Spiders can be bough in castle using their "eggs".

Gargoils, Trolls, Fairys, Driads, Minotaurs can be bought in special event zones during exploration.

Also about OP's review. Magic is powerfull. Archmage above level 20 can wipe out huge armies with just his magic. Just keep crystal supply going.
About the women commander thing, given his reason you may as well just accept that he's a bit misogynistic and move on, there's not much point banging your head against that one just because you're not :p
Thanks mai.oun, I forgot the ritual spells, and I didn't know that units remain in the army after dark pact. I only played 2 good campaigns and did not use that spell much, and when I did, the units died in battle I guess. But when I play more evil, I will utilize that spell more!

Seirhune: It seemed (incorrectly?) a little...elitist? "Mature gamers" and all that.

I don't know about the mod, or the translation, but I thought that Genesis was translated pretty well.

Gremlion: This was due to really hot discussions around illustrations for these books and this cardgame.
Neither of those women really qualify to me as overly sexualized man-bait. They are pretty, and the warrior does have boob molded armor (which is highly impractical), but she's completely covered in armor, so that makes her better than many. The lady in the dress is sporting cleavage, but it doesn't seem that bad to me. ::shrug::

As someone who has many Exalted RPG books, trust me, those women don't even move my needle with regard to blatant cheesecake in games. Neither of the women in the Eador art could be described as "Titty McThong", which makes them perfectly mature depictions of women to me, comparatively speaking.

I just wish if he was going to by misogynistic he'd at least own it completely. Having females in promotional art or on covers of games or in the manual is just being a tease. It's a bait and switch. "Here's a girl! But she's not actually in the game. Ha ha FOOLED YOU!" (Dark Helmet voice optional)

Now I'm really just opining for entertainment value, not actually angry. If I got angry at every game that didn't let me play a chick I'd be playing very few games indeed! ;)

Keep in mind that Bokulev did only Genesis alone, all the other new stuff you refer to is from snowbird where probably other people wanted to include these pictures.
I modded the red haired warrior into Genesis now, I like that picture very much.
I think we shall get rid of this gender-preference argument and focus on game itself.
So many games (Homm series/AoW series/King's Bounty series) have female leader/heroes, and they're surely mature games.

Gremlion: Well, Bokulev stated during beta of Genesis that there are only a few women characters because game is about war, and war is not for women.
Say what? Hahahahaha..... hahahahaha.

Maybe if that was his opinion on the real world I might sorta, kinda agree, but when you make a pure fantasy-based game that kind of logic falls completely apart. So I guess the likes of Master of Magic, Heroes of Might & Magic, and Age of Wonders must be all wrong then with their completely non-sexualized female leaders/heroes. Oh boy.

Obviously I'm not including the new King's Bounty because... (eye-rolling inducing) Armored Princess? Yeeeeeah. Not so much.

You hope wrong, and apparently you've not understood how the Eador games are designed. Yes you get a single castle and "race", but it has an incalculable number of buildings, and it forces you to make excruciatingly important strategic choices as you develop it, because you cannot build everything.

This gives the games great replayability, because everytime you attack a new shard you'll want to try a different building set, a new hero, or even a new way to play the same one. I've played a lot of the games you mention, and in most cases their apparent variety is mostly separate sets of linear upgrades. Here the depth is much more satisfying.

These games have multiple races btw, but you ally with them and get a few units/buildings as a result, instead of having a menagerie of themed castles.

Oh and regarding the technical quality, this game is unfortunately a steaming pile of crap. For the moment Eador Genesis is infinitely more playable, and it doesn't make you want to rip your eyes off because of interface bugs.

That's not really accurate. Humans are the most pliable of races and as such most easily accept new rulers. But you can (with effort) get the allegiance of other races, which give you the "foreign quarter" and related buildings.
Furthermore, even without that there is still multiple races factions available to you within core (barbarians, thieves, lawful guards, pegasi, etc).
And you can use summons and also acquire monster races (eggs can be captured and hatched of all manners of creatures)
And you can hire mercenaries.

It seems what you are talking about is not "races" but "factions". You want to choose different factions each with their own tech/build tree, their own unique units, and their own unique strategies. Which is quite a PITA to balance and flesh out. The single build tree has more structures/units alone then other games split up between all their factions.
