Well, I just finished my first run-through of the Genesis campaign. I love this game!

I played at beginner level, and was generally Pure. But after a while I figured out it is more optimal to be evil on occasion (especially at the start of shards) and always kill the Phoenix lady etc. Still, the elves never turned down an alliance offer from me.

I went with the Talisman solution, and searched 100% of every province to kill all the Chaos critters, after getting that request. On return from that shard, I was going to talk to Erdu to see how my progress was impacted by my first Chaos-critter-extermination-spree, but I couldn't because I got immediately invaded by Adrageron. I bottled him up pronto, and proceeded to also clear 100% of every province on my own Shard.

And surprise surprise, on return the Astral, I was greeted by Ranadil and got to do a bit a dialog with him, but before I could continue with the game, Erdu came and told me it was all over! So it took just two shards to complete the kill-Chaos subtask. I think it was turn 40 or 41. I feel I may have rushed it a bit, because while I did get up to Paladins in my cap, my tier 3 and tier 4 spells were all from scrolls. I would have liked to have seen all the buildings. Also, it would be nice if the 'History' screen showed the victory screen when I click on (the only) entry, since I can't remember all the details.

I'm starting a new campaign now. I think I'll be evil and just kill every new master I meet, since I didn't get to talk to them all in my first game. I'd like to try all the evil event responses, evil units, the chaos and necro spells, and evil alliances. And pillaging, I've never done that once yet.

One weird thing, I don't seem to be able to change the difficulty of the campaign yet, and I had to struggle with the initial responses in order to skip the tutorial. Maybe I need to complete a shard first?
Sounds like you are having great fun. And some people say the campaign is too long! It took me 3 campaigns to get tired of it, (for a while).

You should be able to skip the tutorial if at the start of it you tell the tutor "You sure took your time, didn't you, Zarr", then you go to the Astral. There you can change the campaign difficulty.
