As stated in the topic, I realized (having played this wonderful game for so long!) that I don't even know that :)

Admittedly, I never really tried multi-classing. My first and second hero is always scout and then warrior, and in my experience both really benefit from rank 5 skills.

That said, just recruited my fourth hero (Commander), and looking at the level up skill choice realized if his own skills affect him as well, he might actually be a good choice to multi-class.

In short, I wonder whether his party-boosting skills affect the hero as well.

Yes, commander is affected by his own skills. Multiclass with the Scout stronger in the mid-game, with the Mage - in late game.
