How exactly does mutliplayer work with this version?

Are you only able to connect to other players via Galaxy (online) gaming or will the normal LAN game work, too?

If normal LAN games do work, do I have to use Galaxy at all then or can you set up coop games in LAN with installed Versions via the downloaded installer?

And: If normal LAN works, will Steam versions and GOG versions see each other in LAN?

Unfortunately I think you have to use Galaxy (online), there's no LAN, and Steam and GOG versions don't work together. "Multiplayer is available only between GOG Galaxy users."

As far as I know there is a LAN mode besides the online/Steam mode in this game. Even with a Steam verson you need no online connection what so ever to play in LAN.

Oh okay, I just assumed there'd be no LAN since a LAN option seemed to be going the way of the dinosaur.
Can anyone confirm that/if there is a Lan mode?

Yes, I can confirm there is LAN mode as well as public online play via GOG Galaxy.
I wonder if the reason why the online multiplayer between gog and steam versions of dying light is a no go due to the VAC enabled steam multiplayer servers?

Thank you a lot and +1.
That means this game is probably truly DRM-free, the devs/publishers are great.
So technically me and my brother could play this game over lan with just one bought version?
Could anyone verify this?

Actually I did rename my GOG Galaxy installation today and launched the game. It worked. When i hit the Multiplayer of course I could not see any online games but Wireshark (network sniffer) was picking up packets when I set the game to LAN mode.
[EDIT] Tested LAN play with PC and Laptop. Works fine without Galaxy! [/EDIT]

So yes, I'd say this is very much DRM-free. Game works flawlessly without Galaxy and without it you could still play it via LAN or even online IF you and your friends would use a VPN tunneling tool.

Oh, so GOG has DRM now.
So, online mulliplayer is only available to GOG-Galaxy users? Can anyone please explain why? I always thought the use of GOG Galaxy is completely optional :-(
I mean, I could somewhat understand this, if GOG were the ones hosting the servers for this game and therefore used this fact to promote their Galaxy-platform. But even then it would not seem right to me anymore to advertise the platform as completly optional, since multiplayer is an essential part of a game, which is then not accessible to those not using Galaxy :-/

Surely not essential. I would only ever play single player, I hate any game online / MP

No.
As Dying Light's LAN is a little bit wonky, it would be nice if someone from GoG could make a statement whether LAN works with their DRM free Version out of teh box. Especially without any tunngle or Hamachi services, as needed by some. (google Dying light LAN fix if you want to know more.)
