I love this game but it sure doesn't love me. So I spent 17 hours mostly having fun in the sandbox and not playing the story . However after I got to my first tower mission I started experiencing frequent crashes.

The errors I was getting was

{21:54:20.508} ERRR: [Renderer] > [SRendererAPI::RCreateTexture2D] Failed to create 2D texture (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED / Hardware device removed.)
{21:54:20.510} ERRR: [ERRR] > ---- Starting crash dump procedure -----
{21:54:20.510} ERRR: [ERRR] > ---- Exception code: 3221225477 (0xc0000005) -----

Does anyone know what this means?

I should mentioned that the version of the game I was playing was 1.12.0 after updating it to 1.12.1 my DLC stopped working. So I reformatted everything installed everything fresh copied over my save file and am still getting issues. Having to start from fresh after 17 hours pretty much kills my interest in a game; I'd rather not do that.
What specs are your machine?
Laptop or PC?

A quick search of DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED indicates Graphics card failure, most likely down to over heating or over clocking.

I had a similar issue with TombRaider (but no other game) and had to underclock my graphics card to keep it stable.

Try underclocking and see if that works.

FOr me, nothing else (no matter how hard I hit the card) would cause the error except TombRAider, but just dropping 5% of the clock speed fixed it.

Its worth trying if you can.

Wouldn't benchmark software trigger something though?

To be honest I don't know the exact reason. I tried everything else I could. Used benchmarks and burn in tools, but could not replicate it with any other software, It was Only TR that would kill my old card, and dropping the clock speed cured it.

I'd guess it would be a particular method of shading that caused the card to fail.

It might not fix your issue, but its a simple thing to test.
For me it start to crash after 45hours in gameplay : \ well i do not have the beastly PC out there but i run the game on low setting fine by now : \ an now it just crashes 5 mins after starting the game : \ if there is any away to fix that pls share cus i want to continue with the "The following"part <3

P.S. I am now reinstalling the game cus it seems to had corrupted files ... i hope this fix it :)

P.S. 2 it seems my problem is solved simply by going into windows mode than again in full screen mode before hitting continue, for ma and MANY ppls on internet this fixes all crashes.
