lancegoodale: Already other posts about this issue. Simple answer, square enix doesn't own the rights. The expansions are the rights of the developers. Mad Doc for legends of Aranna, and 2K for Broken world. As this franchise is dead and square enix is working on more revenue generating IP's dont hold your breath that they will acquire the rights. So unless you mod the game to include the expansions we are stuck with a incomplete broken release.
Vamrem: Thank, you for the short resume. I came to ask the same and you saved me precious time of read uncountable posts.
My only obstacle to not buy these games just right now, is that I want the 1st and 2nd, but not the 3rd (which resumes the worst of this industry, don't caring in destroy a saga just to sell also in consoles). I have those two in Steam, but want them in GOG too. Do you know if there will be plans to release them separately here, like in Steam?
Who knows. [shrug]
That's really a question for a bunch of people & some deals that need to be made by some parties:
GOG - who is involved w/ this website (since you want the game here);
Mad Doc Software. who is now RockStar New England - developer of DS1: Aranna expansion/package;
2K Games - the publisher for DS2: Broken World and who also owns Mad Doc;
Microsoft - another publisher involved in some of these releases (especially DS1 original and Aranna; and DS2 vanilla);
Square - current IP owner;
and maybe also WarGaming - they bought out Gas Powered Games...not sure who owns rights to the engine, but that might be another legal hurdle here too.
