Hey,

I just played dungeon keeper 2 for a few hours, and i eventually reached the level where i have to use the hidden doors to expand. Level 16 if i recall.

But problem is that "horny" doesn't aquire the portal gem, which basically leaves me stranded and stuck.
I've tried loading a savegame that was provided by a GOG staff member on another topic, but that just crashes my game constantly.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem? I mean it's unlikely that nobody got passed this level..

You try to restart the level ? (not the best option but... )
I have a solution of sorts, thanks to a different thread that mentioned where the campaign progress is stored.

1) Start up regedit (Windows+R, regedit)
2) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Bullfrog Productions Ltd -> Dungeon Keeper II -> Configuration -> Player
3) Right-click on "Player Level Status" and select "Modify Binary Data"
4) Things get slightly trickier, and I am doing this on Windows 7. Notice the trend. 4 bytes per level, with "01 00 00 00" denoting levels you have finished and "03 00 00 00" denoting alternate levels you ignored. You are on level 16, so after 15 sets of "01 00 00 00" or "03 00 00 00". On line 8 (left column says 0038), for you it should say "01 00 00 00 02 00 00 00". The next line probably starts off with "00 ...." as well, right? Now, modify line 8 (left column says 0038) to "01 00 00 00 01 00 00 00" And modify the next line to start with "02 ..." instead of "00 ...". You have successfully skipped a level.

BONUS OBJECTIVE: Turn those annoying unplayable orange alternate levels into playable ones:

In the same place, modify every 03 that corresponds to an alternate level (within the first 10 lines) to be 01. Congratulations, you can now try the alternate levels without having a save or needing to restart the whole campaign.

This isn't a perfect solution, in the sense that you don't get to progress as the game intended (horny picking up the portal gem), so watch someone play the level on youtube (at least the end of it to see what the mentor says) and then move on to the next one :)
