Hi there, GoGer's.

I have a problem playing this game:
Everything works fine running it in normal mode, but when I change the graphics to 3D Accelerated using the alt+R keycombination, the resolution gets all messed up. Anyone know's how to fix that, because it looks much better with 3D accelerated graphics.

It's not 3D accelerated, just higher resolution :)

Anyway, seems like your computer has issues with the resolution. Quick fix: Press Alt+Enter to go into window-mode.

A bit longer: Open the dosboxDK.conf file with notepad and look for
fullresolution=original
and change it to your native resolution (e.g 1280x720 and so on)

it's also a good idea to change output to opengl
output=opengl
so that scaling works.
Thanks alot, I changed the output to OpenGLnb and it worked. Regular OpenGL didn't work for some strange reason.
Alt-R does wonders (switches it from 320x240 to 640x480).

The game looks amazing with the hq2x scalar option, too.
When talking about scalers I would really recommend the advinterp3x or advinterp2x scalers depending on you resolution.

How do you know which scaler engine is best for your monitor, or is there documentation I missed?
Im runbning a 1920X1200 myself.
It's mostly a matter of personal opinion which mode looks best. But as far as resolution-compatibility is concerned, DK runs in 640x400... so in order to use one of the 2x scalers, you need at least a 1280x800 screen. For any of the 3x scalers, you need at least a 1920x1200 screen (lucky you).
It's worth pointing out that switching to the higher DK res with ALT+R disables any scaling filters (hq2x etc).

Within dosboxDK.conf, I've found setting 'fullresolution' to '0x0', 'cycles' to 'max' and 'scaler' to 'none' work best. Once in game, toggle to the higher resolution with ALT+R.

Changing 'output' to 'opengl' will add a subtle filter that works in higher resolution mode, smoothing out the pixels a little bit more. None of the other outputs seem to do this.

No. Just select a scaler that multiplies to something below your maximum res... Actually, the values I've posted above are for "hi-res mode"
Well I can only speak from my experiences on my own PC so perhaps this has been different for others but the scalers will not work in ALT+R High Res mode by default no matter how high the monitor resolution is (in my case, 1920x1080)

However, I just got them to work at high res (tested HQ2x, Scan2x, advinterp2x, super2xsai) by appending the scaler with 'forced'. They are all now present at the higher resolution. However, they only seem to work with the output set to 'ddraw' else DosBox crashes on booting up.
Here's my problem. I'm editing the DosBOX DK information and every time I try to save it says:

"Cannot Create the C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Dungeon Keeper\dosbox.dk.conf file.

Make sure that the path and file name are correct"

What would you suggest as a course of action?

Get yourself Notepad ++ http://download.cnet.com/Notepad/3000-2352_4-10327521.html

Writing to any file or directory in \Program Files(x86)\ requires elevated privileges by default.

Is your editor running in admin mode? (Right-click -> Run as administrator)

It is all a matter of personal taste. You can get an overview of how they each look here: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Scaler

Where can I find dosboxDK.conf file? Not seeing it in the root folder of DK2. Am I missing something?
