whytestallion: Mine worked straight from installation with no issues. You will want to check compatibility first, see if it is in the correct compatibility mode (not at game computer but should be Windows XP. I'll check when at home)

TTripweed: I did some more looking into things.

I can run the NORMAL .exe fine.
It's when I run DK2 DX.exe where I start crashing.
Weird.
I run DK2 DX.exe perfectly, I just troubleshoot it to windows XP and it perfectly works

mikeycl: Just a quick thing to make sure of is that you have DirectPlay installed.

i had the same issues with these when i tried them on win 10 for the first time and it was because this is a deprecated and optional feature within windows (not installed by default).

You can install it via the Control Panel

For the control panel method go into Programs and Feature and clicking Turn windows features on and off. in there you'll find a section marked Legacy Components which when expanded will show DirectPlay as an available option. make sure this is checked and then click OK.

Windows will then go through the necessary actions to install the feature and once completed try loading the game again.
This worked for me, wouldnt start until i did this
Hi!
I resume this old post because i have the same problem.
When i try to install the game on my PC (Ryzen 9 3900x, RTX 3070) when i click "Install" on the splash screen with the devil and the mistress, the windows closes and nothing happens.
I tried even to install DirectPlay, turn on Windows 98/ME, XP Sevice Pack 3 compatibility mode, but nothing change.

Anybody can help me? I want to go back in the dungeons :(

sounds to me like the installer locks up somehow. that is something that some times happens with old installers. it should work if you reboot. i had no problems with the installer myself in wondows 10. the game uses safedisc however which is incompatible with windows 10. though it will install without issues, it will not run in windows 10.
I didn't tried to reboot the system, maybe it works. I just tried the installation with the original CD. Then i bought the game on GoG and that works! But the game is in english and the original game was even in italian, text and speech :(
you should be able to combine them. you would need to install the disc version with your preferred language. i can try to figure it out tomorrow. it is just that i need to search for my discs because i did not find them recently.
