Hey guys,

I am aware that solutions are available on the forum on different topics to make them work... but most of this doesn't work on mac, unless it's the alt+R thing.

In other words, I have been fiddling with crossover and the settings, but I just gave up, I never achieved anything satisfactory.

This includes KeeperFX, impossible to make it work.

So... I've been wondering if anyone between you has managed somehow to force a higher resolution than 320x200 (or 640x400), or make KeeperFX work... on MAC.

Thanks in advance for any response.
Same problem here. Alt+R increases resolution, but gameplay suffers a drastic slowdown (game works slowly, I mean). Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Play with the dosbox settings (CPU cycles: up CTRL+F12, down CTRL+F11 while running) might help or set in the dosbox conf cycles=max

If this helps not enough, DOS32a can be used as drop in replacement for DOS4GW.EXE. It is known to result for several game in a serious speed-up (e.g. Schleichfahrt)
http://dos32a.narechk.net/index_en.html

How to install:
rename "DOS4GW.EXE" to "DOS4GW.BAK"
copy the binary package of DOS32a 9.12 into your Dungeon keeper folder.
Rename "dos32a.exe" to "DOS4GW.EXE".

Thanks a lot for your help, but the thing is we are using Mac version. I can not do the Cmd+F11 thing because F11 and F12 in my Macbook are volume up and down :/ I'm new in this, but I'm pretty sure there is a way to fix this.
Anyway, thank you again!

hmm, FN+F12 or CTRl+FN+F12 are reported by some to work under mac(?) What overall should work is setting the cycle count in the dosboxDK.conf from cycles=40000 to cycles=max.

Hello, i got dungeon keeper gold + keeperfx to work on my imac with wineskin. Till now i had no crashes with the now applied options.

But i didn´t have the time to test it longer than say 20 minutes. So i am not sure if there will be or are problems i don´t know off.

These were the steps i took:

You will need wineskin, keeperfx and the GOG Version of Dungeon Keeper Gold for windows.

First Download the windows version of dungeon keeper gold from gog. Then create a blank wrapper with wineskin. Update wineskin wrapper und use the latest version (i have 2.6.0). Install and use the WS9Wine1.7.13 engine.

Maybe you already know how to do this, but i will try to explain the next steps.

After wineskin creates the wrapper, choose create blank wrapper (you can name it what you want, i chose KeeperFx ), click the option show in finder or something like that after the wrapper is created. You will see your newly created wrapper in finder. Right click your wrapper and click the option show package contents. There will be folders an a wineskin icon.
Klick on it and then go to Advanced.

Browse to the downloaded dungeon keeper gold exe (you should place it within the wrapper in "drive_c/Programm Files" then click on the buttons in the bottom of the advanced window on test run. The installation setup will start. At the end just finish the installation without launching the game.

Next you should download the keeperfx files (i took version 4.6, think its the current stable) and put them in the c_drive/Programm Files/GOG Games Folder next to the fresh installed dungeon keeper gold folder. Then with wine browse to the installer.exe in the keeperfx folder and make a test run.

In the installer choose the installation folder, which is located within the wraper at drive_c/GOG Games/Dungeon Keeper Gold. After that is finished you should check the settings for your resolution in keeperfx. Mine was 1920x1080. After saving the settings you can exit and back again in wineskin advanced configuration browse to the keeperfx.exe in the keeperfx folder.

In the advanced section of wineskin click on tools, there click the Config Utility (winecfg) and on the next window klick on the Graphics tab and check "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows". Next click on the Applications tab and check at the bottom if Windows XP is set in the dropdown (it should already be set) apply and exit.

So now you should go back to Configuration in tab. You could do a test run, on my mac the game started well but it flickered a lot. So i went to screen options (next to the test run button in Advanced Configuration) and set Override on Screen Settings, Override Settings to fullscreen, Resolution again to 1920x1080, and installer options to "Use these settings" and click Done Button. Back in Configuration i set Exe Flags to "-vidriver windib" without quotes.

So if i didn't forget a step after this you can use wineskin with kepperfx and dungeon keeper gold from GOG on my imac with yosemite.

Ingame i couldn't change the resolution with Alt+r, but with cmd+r.

I am no technician expert, i googled a lot an found different answers and tested a lot. This was the way to go. I hope this helps others, but don't expect to much from me if asking something. ;)

just right click on .app->show package->Rsources->show package on Doungeon Keeper.boxex->C.harddisk
and put dos32a.exe there (rename it DOS4GW.EXE)

Hey there,

I need some help. I've purchased Dungeon Keeper Gold from Gog.com which works on my iMac perfectly without any changes - once i purchased i downloaded it and it works fine. I want to download keeper fx but haven't got the slightest on how to install it on a mac. I've read a few things about mounting the image but don't know what that means.

if anyone can advise me I would be very grateful.

Cheers
KeeperFX requires some files from the original product in order to be sure you own the original game. KeeperFX does not need to be installed, but it requires those files to be copied from Dungeon Keeper into KeeperFX. It comes with a small launcher utility that does that for you. Those files are on the original CD.

You may have noticed GOG did not ship you a CD, this not being the 90's anymore and all. So they made a virtual CD(iso) and called it 'game.gog' and included it in your download. Mounting is telling your computer this file is supposed to be a CD and than it will pretend you have a disk in your drive.

If you want to try to mount it, first rename the file game.gog to dungeonkeeper.iso. (only GOG gives ISO files a .GOG file extension). You can mount ISO images on Mac by using Disk Utility, located in the /Applications/Utilities/ directory. After you have launched Disk Utility, navigate from the Disk Utility menu down to “Open Image File” and select the dungeonkeeper.iso file you now have.
If this sounds too complicated you can also simply open the game.gog file with for example 7zip, and extract the keeper folder inside.

The launcher.exe should copy the required files from the keeper folder in your virtual drive/you just extracted. If this fails on your Mac you can copy the files by hand. Here you'll find the list.
