I have tried everything out there for fixing this problem, with no success. When I start the game, my screen goes black, it flickers a bit, then immediately closes. I have tried everything from modifying the target, to setting up the compatibility, and absolutely nothing works.

I am running Win 7 64bit Pro, with a quad core AMD, 8GB of RAM, and a Geforce GTX 460 graphics card.

I'm afraid you're not alone. There is a sticky thread here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/dungeon_keeper_series/dungeon_keeper_2_stability_issues/

The game has compatibility issues with Win 7. Usually linked to Ati cards, but apparently there are some GeForce victims too.

It has become a major embarrassment for GOG, I'm amazed they haven't pulled the game yet.

You should log a support request as a first step, this will help them to identify if your issue is the same as others that have reported it.
I did submit a request, tempted to request money back, doubt it will do any good though :S

edit: As a side note, it does the exact same thing on my laptop, which runs a completely different nVidia card.

By the terms and conditions of GOG, there are no refunds. They are based in Cyprus, so I think they are legally just about untouchable on this. Certainly more effort than it's worth. You can of course "Request" your money back. They may listen based on their behaviour with this game. However I'm just a fellow forum member, and could not speak for them.

You should check out the fixes suggested in a number of other threads like this. As I said, it seems to be ATI cards that are really screwed, you may be ok if you can get some of those things working.

I've never actually installed my GOG copy, I have a disk version, but it works well in Vista 64 with a GeForce 480.

Well, it's the second bestselling EA title; I guess it's working for enough people that the backlash isn't significant, or something.

Kinda goes against the customer centric view GOG promote. One of their points is that the game is supported. It's no good to support it, and say after about a year "Yep, still doesn't work".
Unbelievable how I just got it to work. All I did, was change me desktop res to 800 x 600 before launching the game and compatibility for XP service pack 2. So ridiculous
