mabrookes: ...even when I set the difficulty slightly higher she still found the aiming easy.
If you will recall, the relative ease of aiming (either when running the native controls or some derivation thereof) was never an issue I addressed. Rather, I remarked on the ease of traversal specifically in regards to a WASD/mouselook control scheme (through enhanced circle strafing) when compared to the native controls. Perhaps your girlfriend lacked the propensity to utilize the modern control scheme?

mabrookes: All you have given is information most people know (although some might not so fair enough), and your opinions on top of that.
Information and my opinion. What more must one include in a post for it to become a viable component of the overall thread? Charts and diagrams? Peer reviewed research? Perhaps an insightful YouTube link?

mabrookes: Anyone else is free to think otherwise or have any different experience/opinion/preference including you!
Then allow me to speak on behalf of the dissenting opinion and thank you for your considerations.

mabrookes: Before it becomes a long back and forth, Ill read anything else you say and agree to leave it at that - unless you specifically want to ask me something of course, I wont just ignore you.
I assure you that I also have no interest in a needless back and forth. I have said everything I feel I needed or wanted to on the matter in my second post, as I will be the first to admit that my first did not articulate it thoroughly. I stand by my arguments still, and find myself most pleased in your willingness to engage the topic civilly, rather than devolving quickly into a mindless message board queef shart hell bent on flaming any and all opposing opinions. No less, in the face of my open mocking. Perhaps you are the better man Mabrookes. If my parody of you was inaccurate, as I now believe it was, I apologize. Despite being the better man, however, you still remain the wrong man :-]

EDIT:

Sorry it took so long to respond, but I've been having trouble with my GOG account specifically with the forums. Thanks to GOG support-fu master qp0n!

gildur: Press the 'U' key to enable mouse aiming.

kris44dad: In the settings I have 'mouse aim set as a toggle' however, using the "u" key to turn mouse aiming on or off has no affect. I still can't get off the horizontal plane.
Have the same issue: mouse aim with U key still doesn't allow aim up/down with mouse. Is there a fix, using original exe and not Eduke32 clone?

EDIT:
Here's the final answer: http://swisscm.duke4.net/mine.html
Copy BMOUSE.EXE into DUKE3D.EXE directory and from SETUP select Keyboard + External -> BMOUSE.EXE.
