I've been attempting to get this old mod ('total conversion') working on the GOG version, but so far, I failed numerous times.

It's a rather special mod, y'see. I would appretiate the help.
And yes, this is Yahtzee Croshaw's idea of what Duke Nukem 3D should've been.

Daedolon: The directory needs to be called 'evil', not 'evil directory'.
avatar
amirali_mohayaee: I previously stated that I had fixed the problem. I just added the phrase 'directory' to the the folder titled 'evil' to fool myself.

...what.
I managed to get it working, using EDuke32. I extracted the zip file in the Eduke32 folder which contains the GRP file. After installing, I played it and it was doing fine.
I am sorry if I caused too much of a hassle.

Keph: ...what.

It was a typo. That is what I meant.

No, problem. You gave me some valuable hints and I got it working by accident. :)
Thanks for your tolerance.

Forge: Where you've gone wrong is you're running Duke with Dosbox. You need to make a conf file for the evil_install.bat and run it with dosbox.
avatar
amirali_mohayaee: That sounds like the perfect solution, but can you go into detail?
Edit: I mean, how do I make a conf file for evil_install.bat?

For your future reference:
We'll use evil_install.bat for an example
open the dosboxDuke3D.conf with notepad
scroll to the bottom of the page until you find:

MOUNT C C:\
C:
CD Program Files\GOG.com\Duke Nukem 3D
DUKE3D.EXE
exit
change
CD Program Files\GOG.com\Duke Nukem 3D
to
CD Program Files\GOG.com\Duke Nukem 3D\evil directory
change
DUKE3D.EXE
to
evil_install.bat
save the file as dosbox_evil.conf
make a shortcut to dosbox.exe and move it to the desktop
right click it and select properties
change
"C:\Program Files\GOG.com\\DOSBOX\dosbox.exe"
to
"C:\Program Files (x86)\D-Fend Reloaded\DOSBox\dosbox.exe" -conf dosbox_evil.conf -noconsole
works for any program you want to run in dosbox (that works in dosbox)
now you can run your game from the shortcut you just made on the desktop

Forge: change
"C:\Program Files\GOG.com\\DOSBOX\dosbox.exe"
to
"C:\Program Files (x86)\D-Fend Reloaded\DOSBox\dosbox.exe" -conf dosbox_evil.conf -noconsole

correction:
not
"C:\Program Files (x86)\D-Fend Reloaded\DOSBox\dosbox.exe" -conf dosbox_evil.conf -noconsole
I meant:
"C:\Program Files\GOG.com\\DOSBOX\dosbox.exe" -conf dosbox_evil.conf -noconsole
I was using my directory instead of yours by mistake
