I've been attempting to get this old mod ('total conversion') working on the GOG version, but so far, I failed numerous times.

It's a rather special mod, y'see. I would appretiate the help.
And yes, this is Yahtzee Croshaw's idea of what Duke Nukem 3D should've been.

Um, anyone? :(
Unzip the contents of the zip file into your duke3d directory. Ensure that the files are set out thusly:
EVIL_INSTALL.BAT, EVIL_UNINSTALL.BAT and EVIL.TXT (this file) in the Duke3D root directory
All other files in a new folder called 'EVIL', eg C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Duke Nukem 3D\EVIL\
It is important that these files are located there.
To play the game, simply run EVIL_INSTALL.BAT, then run our short cut from Desktop, Game Explorer or 'Menu Start\GOG.com\Duke Nukem 3d' normally.
To return to normal Duke3D, run EVIL_UNINSTALL.BAT.
If you want access to both games at once, make a copy of your DN3D installation and then do the above (substituting the game folder name where appropriate). The start menu shortcuts will still point to the original game folder, but you can easily make your own.

I have attempted this many many many times and still haven't succeeded.
What do you mean by the "root" directory, by the way?

Root directory is directory where you have installed the game. By default it is:
C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Duke Nukem 3D
I've just test this mod yesterday and it was working perfectly for me.
I've started EVIL_INSTALL.BAT from windows level. When it was done patching game files I've started Duke Nukem shortcut from my desktop and I was playing this mod without a problem. What exactly you have tried amirali_mohayaee?

Alright, here we go:
I first downloaded the file 'evil.zip' onto my desktop and later moved it to the Duke3D folder. When I extracted the files, Evil.txt, Evil_Install.bat, Evil_Uninstall.bat and the 'evil' folder were seperatly placed in the directory. I ran Install.bat and it showed me a CP window running some files from the 'evil' forlder. Window closes on it's own and I close any window before starting Duke 3D.
The result is always the same. I will attempt the same on another PC, later.

Hm but did you start Duke after updating files with that mod? It not suppose to start on its own. Also its not clear. After extracting evil files were in root directory or in separate directory?

Yes, after running evil_install.bat, I ran the desktop shortcut and the start button, but result was the same. *Grabbag play in the background*
When I extracted the files the first time, the text file and the other two bat. files were in the directory. the 'evil' file, which consists of scripts, maps and audio files, was also in the directory.
Here is a screenshot:

The file 'evil dirctory' in the screenshot is the same as the file 'evil'.
So, where have I gone wrong?

amirali_mohayaee: So, where have I gone wrong?

Where you've gone wrong is you're running Duke with Dosbox. You need to make a conf file for the evil_install.bat and run it with dosbox.

That sounds like the perfect solution, but can you go into detail?
Edit: I mean, how do I make a conf file for evil_install.bat?

That looks ok. Now you supose to run evil_install.bat, wait till his finish and run duke from menu start. If its not working please send us a dxdiag.

I am afraid I don't know what you mean by a "dxdiag". I couldn't find it anywhere.

The directory needs to be called 'evil', not 'evil directory'.

Daedolon: The directory needs to be called 'evil', not 'evil directory'.

I previously stated that I had fixed the problem. I just added the phrase 'directory' to the the folder titled 'evil' to fool myself.
