Yeah, I was stuck too and that video walkthrough was the only thing that saved me. This is my first post in this forum, after just recently purchasing a few games from GOG, including Duke Nukem, and would everyone mind too much if I just segued into a little anti-developer rant? The guys who programmed Duke Nukem--what the hell were they thinking with this level? The thing that got me stuck was an area in which you not only had to press levers (a bloody handprint in this case) to open up the next part of the level, but you ALSO had to face a specific direction once you did, and look toward a window. Looking toward the window--yes, LOOKING TOWARD THE WINDOW--triggers an explosion outside in the canyon which opens up a new part of the level. If you DON'T do that, even after you pressed the bloody handprint, the explosion doesn't occur, the next part of the level never opens and you are stuck wandering infinitely in a rocky canyon filled with acid and lava, but no enemies, as you will already have dispatched them after wandering for hours and hours looking for a part of the level that ISN'T THERE BECAUSE YOU FAILED TO LOOK TOWARD A FRIGGING WINDOW. I've played Duke before, a decade and a half ago, and recall getting stuck on this level then too. Thank God for this video walkthrough, but I believe the walkthrough was posted by one of the Duke developers, wasn't it? I would love to ask him just what they were smoking when they thought this was a good idea. How on Earth could they have thought people would actually have fun wandering around in circles forever? It's unfair, it's cheap, it's a rip-off, it's a WASTE of HOURS of my time, but most of all, it has got to be one of the most asinine programming decisions I have EVER beheld in all my years of playing video games.
Okay, rant mode off. But that's what wandering in circles for three hours will do to you.
