Is there anyone who could kindly walk me through setting up Duke Caribbean (or Duke it out in DC etc) for GOGs edition of Duke Atomic?
I own all the games except a cd copy of Atomic edition, however, Caribbean and Duke it out in DC require that the Atomic Edition CD rom be in the drive, which isn't quite possible with the GOG edition.
Best way is to use eduke32. Start looking here: http://wiki.eduke32.com/wiki/EDuke32_Modifications
All you need to get started is the duke3d.grp file from your GOG download.
I'm not keen on using eDuke32 for various reasons, although I've finally managed to work out how to run it.
For anyone who is interested:
1: Download and install Dosbox -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/dosbox/files/dosbox/0.74/DOSBox0.74-win32-installer.exe/download?_test=updater&utm_expid=65835818-0&utm_referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dosbox.com%2Fdownload.php%3Fmain%3D1
2: Download Ripsaw8080s Duke Caribbean Fix from Vogons -> http://vogons.zetafleet.com/download.php?id=9247
3: Open Dosbox, do the following. In my case, I'd already ripped my game cds directly to the hard disk to save on listening to my cd rom go HURRRRRRRRRR and spin at 9700000 rpm whilst rattling more violently than a stall in a truck stop bathroom during Taco night.
mount C C:\ (This normally isn't recommended, but you could make it inside a directory, ie C:\dosgames)
mount D C:\atomic15 -t cdrom
(The C:\atomic15 above should be replaced with your directory or cd image, in my case, I'd ripped my copy of Atomic directly to my disk for ease of use)
install (Follow the prompts, install your copy of the game to C:\duke3d)
setup (run through your setup, use sound blaster for the sound and music, test them, save and quit)
[install your copy of Duke Caribbean or Duke it out in DC]
Run the GAMER installation tool, activate your copy of Duke it out in DC.
If you're getting Runtime Error 2 or 3, you need to ensure that your copy of Duke 3d Atomic is in the drive (or emulated via Dosbox). You must also run the game at least once, and run through the setup as well.
