Hi,
I have a problem with eduke. Everything else works fine, but there's no music. I have checked every possible thing I know and I'm pretty sure that the music isn't disabled. The weirdest thing is that I didn't have this problem the first time I installed the game, it appeared when I hadn't played in a while. I've tried re-installing both duke3D and eduke, still the same problem.
I would appreciate the help, sucks balls to play without music.

Hi,
You say you're pretty sure, but have you checked you don't have music set to 'off'' ?
If not, maybe you could try to set your sound FX options using the SETUP.EXE file in the game's directory.

Yeah I've checked it, both in-game and manually. The music is enabled everywhere.
I already played around with the setup.exe, tried changing the music card but nothing worked. You're talking about the sound FX options but I only have problem with the music, sound effects and stuff work just fine, so I figured it was the music card I should try fixing. When I tested the music card it said that I should hear the Duke Nukem theme song but I didn't hear anything, no matter the settings. But I did hear something when I tested the sound FX stuff so I guess it has nothing to do with the music.

Are you using Vista or Win7 ?
If you are make sure you run both the setup and main program as admin, otherwise it won't save any settings properly.
I have XP, so that won't do me any good.
But, when I tried to reinstall the whole crap again, this is what happened: http://tinypic.com/r/2emhbhy/6 Any idea what that could mean? And doesn't matter wheter I choose yes or no, the music is still dead.
If you're using an older EDuke32, you need to change the MIDI device in eduke32.cfg. Check out the order for the MIDI devices from your Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio tab and change it accordingly.
[Sound Setup]
MusicDevice = 0

There's also a problem with EDuke32 recognizing older version configuration files, and I think newer versions don't even understand the "MusicDevice" configuration, so if changing the eduke32.cfg doesn't help, try removing it altogether and launch the game to create a proper one. Newer versions might use the system default for a MIDI device, so make sure that's correct too.
I tried both of those tricks, still doesn't work. :/ Meh, I'm probably gonna buy a new PC within a month anyway so I think I'll just give up with this. If I have the same problem with my new PC as well (I sure hope I don't) then I'll come back asking these stupid questions again. A thousand thanks to you guys anyway, shame I couldn't mark any of your posts as the solution. But you can't always win, not even every time. :P

If your using other addon such as the hrp pack you need to make sure that the music is being loaded last for it to work.
