I stopped playing drox for like a week and a half, and it was working perfectly then. I recently updated my graphics card, Nividia and games like Dragon Age 3 which was barely playing suddenly was frame rating and stuff.

I start up Drox Operative. It goes not quite lagg, but it freezes up then starts back up and freezes again on the main menu.

Got a game going, and It laggs greatly around explosions and shots and etc.

Alt tabbed, and looked at perormance, 100% Full Cpu usage when running this game. If any one knows of this problem and how to fix it. I would greatly appreciate it.
I had the same problem with version 1.042. It lags whenever I set the challenge level more than 100. It not happens everytime however, only times to times when something is updated in my system. Maybe it is really caused by an uncompatible driver.

I hope for some answer at least here, since I received no answer on the Soldak forums.

Defragmented my computer, removed anything that took up ram, I managed to make it semi playable now, which freezes up every 20 secs, laggs for 2-3 secs, then continues as normal now. God I wish I had not updated that driver.

Now I'm not sure it is caused by an update.I have started the exact same world and it haven't lagged. Sometimes it lags even with the smallest galaxy with only 3 races, and sometimes not lag with the largest world with all the planets colonized.

I think this is some kind of memory overflowing. Usually the engine tries to not load everything together, but after a time it will be too much.
It freezes for a minute or two when the main menu comes up, then laggs badly, but once in the game it comes and goes. I alt tabbed to check on cpu usage, 90%. I am going to get the next update for Nvidia and hope beyond reason that it fixes that problem.
I updated my nvidia graphics to the latest, updated pretty much everything, also a complete erase & install of the graphics option when I installed the new one. Still heavy lagging on menu and very occasional spikes during gameplay. Oh at start of game, heavy freeze like lagg like in game menu for a while.

So far as I can tell, its all due to the Nvida latest graphics. I am going to install the 362 or w/e ones before the last one or two came out and hopefully that will take care of it. I will let you know if it works or not.. The latest version didn't

EDIT NEW FIXED

Okay, first of all download the 360 version of Nvidia Graphics.

Install it, ( using the option to erase & start fresh option ) and Lagg Latency, the High Massive CPU usage and etc is Gone. It totally was all Fing Nvdia crap. I swear I thought I had bitcoin miners since my cpu jumped to 110% usage, everything slowed down to where windows was lagging on all commands. then suddenly tried to execute them all at once if I just kept clicking. Yesh. NVIDIA That is all your fault.

Dragon Age 3 runs again * YEAH *
Drox Operative Runs perfect with no lagg or any problem.
and the rest of my games that were having problems are back to working 100% :)

The problem is that I'm on XP from this machine. It's latest nVidia driver is 340. XD

I guess you can still look up a driver 2 or 3 updates behind yours, it was easy to find on nvidia google search. Just make sure to download only from nvidia or some official site, no other little sites. Might not help, but I hope it works.

I can try installing my old driver, that comes with the card. Why not? XD

Let me know if it works.
I bought a new PC just for gaming. I not wanted to buy a high-tech one because those are way too expensive just for some gaming. This new PC has a very old type dual core processor, 4 Gb RAM, and 1 Gb VRAM (the DXDiag still says it has around 2700 Mb VRAM for some reason). This build can run the Drox Operative without a single lag. No matter how much ships are on-screen or how populated the galaxy, it runs smooth.

This is my first time releasing 7 ships from carrier bays without slowing down to 10 FPS. :D
