What is this doing here? I thought GoG was about classic games that are critically-acclaimed and have been around for a while.
I played this on the PS2 a few years ago (2007) and while it's not a completely terrible game, it was never more than mediocre. I couldn't even bother finishing the story, which is quite rare for me since I'm obsessive when it comes to completing games I've started.
The first Driver would have been a more suitable choice, since it's old and good.
GOG, like all businesses, are primarily about making a profit. They do this by selling games offered to them with agreements from publishers. While you, yourself, may consider this game to not be good, many others wouldn't agree with you.
Also, don't confuse the name of the site. Good Old Games does not specifically mean that all games have to be X years old or of a certain quality to be sold here. Have you never heard of the phrase "the good old days"?
Besides, all games are considered to be old within a year of release anyhow and this one is what? 3 years old or so...
Now that said, no one is forcing you to buy this game, so why not let those who want to buy it, do so without your complaints?

You are not the authority on what is good or old. This game is 3 years old, so that it can be classified as old. And I liked it just as much as the first Driver and finished it, so for me it is good.
Gotta remember they had games from 2006 on here, last year. So I'm guessing 2007 is now the new 2006. May not have been many anyway as far I'm aware, but they were here.
Oh I saw that one coming. I knew this post will pop up sooner or later.
If you don't like the game, don't buy it. It's as simple as that
I kind of agree with the initial post on the 'not old' thing. I have never played this, so I cannot make judgements about the quality.
There are some great games on GOG that are (near) impossible to get legally. Classics such as (Heroes of) Might and Magic, Knights and Merchants, Duke Nukem etc. Try finding these in stores, even online stores, they won't be found easily. And IF you find them they will probably not work on your computer. That's why I want to buy these games on GOG!
None of this is the case for Driver though. I can buy it from stores and it will play on my compurer, after all it is only a few years old. Despite your opinion on the quality, I simply do not need GOG to get and play Driver.
I understand GOG wants to make a profit too, but personally I prefer the real good old games.
I'm not complaining though, GOG is a great initiative, but whenever a game like this comes out I am still kind of bummed.

Yeah, but you're missing a very important point. These are 2-3 old games, but like every gog game they're 100% DRM FREE.
To me a 2 year old game is old, but 'old' is entirely subjective and up to each one.
But having recent games on catalogue is definitely a good sign considering the DRM free aspect of the service.
But I still prefer a 90's game that's impossible to come by :-)
Having recent titles can be good, but also don't forget that the purpose of GOG was to bring OLD games back to the people. If they're running out of old games already that's bad news!
Anyway, I don't think it's particulary bad that they release more recent games, I just think it would be better if they released more old games instead ;-)

The fact they released this game doesn't mean they're running out of old games.
Maybe it was a part of the initial deal they signed with the publisher.
Or maybe someone on the staff thinks this game deserves more love than it got and they went after it ;)
But, yeah, i know what you mean. Still, old-more-recent games every now and again make for a nice change of pace.
Mmmmm.... a interesting discusion! but i need to say good games for some guy, and bad games for other... everyone have the right to have this opinion... d'ont "kill" the guy thaht say this games iq bad.. after all what the interest of having the free opinion of everyone only if the guy who said "this games is great" are axcepted on this site... the attack one everyone whos saide a games is bad is systematicalie! the big force of GoG is everyone can give is advise... and is the most importante... no?
ps: sorry for my poor english.

This Game is neither Old nor Good
I'm totally agree. If it was driver 1, all would be ok, but this...
Parallel Lines really isn't that bad...I'd say it's more of a 5.99 game. I played it on release with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Very good soundtrack.
It is not a good game

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. I, for one, don't agree with you.

It seems that the reason some people don't like this game is that some of the missions are so hard. I don't think that makes it a bad game. "I can't get through this mission! This game SUCKS!" Boo hoo. ;)

Now that I've finished the game, I just enjoy driving around New York, stealing cars, pissing off the cops, and generally causing mayhem. :D
Driver Parallel lines isn't a bad game at all.
Is it better than GTA?..No.
Is it better than Saints Row?..No.
Is it a bad game?...No.

I liked this game...the driving mechanics weren't bad and it was a hell of alot better than Driv3r which was a buggy and insanely tough piece of crap that could have been amazing.
On foot mechanics were good...shooting lock on system was good. Graphically it was on par with GTA San Andreas.
I liked the storyline and the 70's theme..fully customisable cars (which GTA IV didnt do) and an impressive soundtrack...evading the cops in the 70's while sufrigette city by David Bowie screams in the background was a real highlight....I'm not sure what people were expecting....it's a pretty damn entertanining GTA clone....if you want more than that then I don't know what to tell ya.
