For some reason, after I didn't play for a while the game no longer works, I can start it up but the game doesn't let me do anything, the mouse and keyboard don't work (the steam overlay if I run the game as a non-steam game works for some reason, is the fact I changed my keyboard and mouse affecting this?)

Can you please give us some more info,like what OS you have,error messages that appeared, etc. I have never encountered such an issue with this game,and i own both the old disc version and both the GOG and Steam version which are build and version wise the same.Lets try to solve this issue ;).Cheers

EDIT: Try to verify your Steam game data for this game by right clicking on Driver PL in your games list and then go to Local files-Verify integrity of game files.If that doesn't help,we will try something else :).Cheers

I own the gog version but added it as a non-steam game, it
doesn't work if I manually run it without steam either, I use windows 8 and theres no error messages, the game loads but for some reason minimises itself for a second THEN full screens automaticly but I can't interact with anything, the game doesn't register mouse/keyboard presses or mouse movment (the cursor is stuck at the top left of the screen) but the steam overlay works if I run it via steam (somehow) and I have to CNTRL-ALT-DELETE in order to shut it down

Windows 8 is the issue here.I researched a bit on the internet, and you are not the only one with this exact problem.As some people have reported after debugging,the problem pops up when windows for some reason(8 and 8.1) decide to change values in the game data folder and causes corruption for unknown reasons.You have mentioned that you changed you keyboard and mouse setup.That could be one of the reasons, since some peeps play with a controller and after changing something, this happens.The only working solution right now is a fresh reinstall since you have the GOG version.Just move your save file somewhere and put it back after installation.Hope this helped.Cheers

Look for this path C:\Documents and settings\%user-name%\My Documents\My Games\Driver Parallel Lines or look in the GOG Galaxy folder within the Program Files folder.There should be two files DPL.Config and xxxx.DPLsave(xxxx is the name of your save file).It should be there.Cheers

uh I deleted my game via the installer (and even deleted my save files (after moving my save game to a different folder) and still had the installer files in a different folder, but the game still doesn't work in exactly the same way it didn't work before.-
