First of all I love this game and have played it since the first game (non dark arisen version) was released on the PS3. And the game itself generally runs flawlessly, but on the GoG version specifically the "accessing server" is like 10x slower than the steam version. The game has always had a slight bit of stuttering when it was loading data as you moved around in the open world it is generally noticeable but not as clear as with the online GoG version. The problem seems to be with the gog galaxy server access. I had no issues with the steam version when online and it accessing the server often as you walked around the open world, but with the GoG version the network issues are pretty atrocious.

1) When walking around the world with GoG Galaxy running in online mode, the loading stuttering is significantly worse when compared to when GoG Galaxy is NOT running and in offline mode. Just walking from the encampment to the mountain waycastle has a very noticeable frame rate drop when the game streams the data load off the HDD and the "Accessing Server..." message is in the upper right hand corner of the screen. That slowdown is still there when GoG Galaxy is not running but it isn't nearly as noticeable because it seems to return to normal rather quickly. This is with a 1080Ti, BTW so it's not a hardware issue and the network is on a 75Mbps connection so it's doubtful it is a connection issue.

2) When compared to the steam version, the GoG version when online, is really horrible when resting so it can update your pawn info. What's going on here does anyone know? Steam version wasn't this slow, but the GoG version I literally have time to put down the controller and stretch my legs and in some of the worst cases I could go to the bathroom and back and it would be just finishing up. It's a long wait every time considering that even if it was sending the whole save file every time it was only sending 512kb of data.

3) In the rift, almost every time, the first time I search for pawns to hire I get a could not retrieve data or something then notice that the "accessing server" message is still in the upper right hand corner. If I just wait for that to eventually disappear, then the list is filled normally.

Is this just happening on my end or is this a widespread problem with the GoG version for everyone else?

I'm expercing the accessing server problem and it drags on and on and on and on and seems to affect the entire game. NPCs won't let you leave a conversation, the lag is causing performance issues, and I can't recruit paws now.

Something feels wrong.
It seems to me that there is certainly something wrong. It's not only performance but also the fact that pawns never get the rental reward screen, as discussed in another thread in this subforum. The steam version apparently had many of the same issues when it was originally released. We can only hope that means people at Capcom can more easily correct the faulty behavior and soon release a patch.
Just chiming in...the server backend that handles the pawn data is most likely corrupted (as it used to be with the steam version).

To cut a long story short, everyone will be hurting for RC when they get to Bitterblack Isle, and I dread to think how badly the online Ur-Dragon fights will perform, given how extraordinarily crappy the synching works for the time being.

Not to mention the inability to trade hard-to-get items like snakeskin purses or glowing red orbs. The game is great. but the online component is shot to hell. It would be nice to get a statement on the current state of affairs, as these errors are not exactly new and Capcom should know how to fix them by now.

NPCs won't let you leave a conversation
Happened twice to me now. Waited several minutes but nothing happened. Just "Accessing server..." displayed in the upper right corner of the screen while NPCs walked about it the background. Had to go to Desktop, Task Manager then kill process.

Same here, I had to kill the program.

I took someone elses recommendation and play offline. WAY smoother. Only thing is you can't recruit other players pawns, which seem much more effective than the in game npc ones.

What I'm doing now is activating "online" mode before i open a pawn stone thing, waiting a few seconds for it to load, recruiti the pawn and leave the rift stone thingy, then go offline mode again. Got me by so far and gets rid of the laggy fps I was experiencing before. A pain but works....

Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! Although, wouldn't this also prevent your pawn from being hired by other players?

According to the wiki, the game "simulates" someone renting your pawn on occasion in offline mode, netting you a few extra RCs. Since renting is pretty much broken at the moment, this might get you more than someone actually renting it...

Not sure and I'm pretty new to the game. What I do know is at times I forgot to deactivate "online" mode and instantly I'm reminded to LEAVE IT OFF. I had it happen again today when switching vocations and the game wanted to access the servers. Just sat there forever and I had to kill the whole game and reload.

I'm staying offline so I can actually play the game lol
