I'm playing a mage, and it didn't take long for the autoaim to start annoying me with how it misses if the target is at all mobile. So I looked around and found that you can press Shift for manual aim. I've been trying it out, but I can't figure out exactly how it works. Sometimes it seems like I just have to briefly tap it, other times it seems like I have to hold it down for a second, and actually firing the spell doesn't seem to have a consistent input either. I also frequently experience my aim jumping and twitching around instead of just having the game put a crosshair up and letting me aim smoothly. This can't be how the game is supposed to work, so I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Could the fact that I have a gamepad and a joystick hooked up be causing problems, even though I have the game set to use KBM controls?

I get the feeling that a manual would have really helped, but there inexplicably isn't one, so I'm kind of flying blind here.
