haydenaurion: Sounds like this game is a mess with that pawn bug and others, jeez. I've downloaded but have never installed the game, should I just try and ask for a refund seeing as how it looks like this will never be fixed? I purchased it on June 6th, but didn't know about the pawn bug until I just checked the forums today.
Gog is giving a refund I guess because the core feature, renting pawns online mode, is broken. Buy the steam version, I hear it is functioning well.

I wouldn't call pawn renting a core feature. It's nice side source of RC (from what I read elsewhere, I never had someone rent my pawn), but I'm doing fine without it. During Bitter Black reruns monsters and chests drop only slightly less RC than I need to fuel my purifying needs from those reruns. If I include NG+ and Under a different sky quest, I'm good - right now I'm sitting on a pile of 500k RC. Game-generated pawns are underequipped, which again doesn't matter much to me - I use them as baits to distract enemies while I run around and do the real damage and resurrect my baits. Even with broken rentals I already did almost everything that can be done in the game - except for Trappings of evil quest (only two pieces collected so far), hardcore/ng+/lvl200 achievements (in progress) and speedrun (maybe in the future).

I'd put pawn rentals at about 2-3% of all the content that the game has to offer. Other bugs are matter of luck, I never had my save ruined and I make backup copies even if it happens, but I can understand how that could make one bitter.

I got ~12,000 RC from someone renting my pawn, which seems like a pretty good chunk.

I haven't had any issues renting pawns in the last week or two. The only issue i've had is that Galaxy cloud saves must be enabled for other people to rent my pawn, which I couldn't find documented anywhere other than forum posts from some helpful people.

How often that happens? 12.000 RC is not that much if if happens once in a week. Purifying single lvl3 armor is 25k. I get something like 150k RC from one BBI trip which can take maybe 1 hour. Purifications from that trip cost around 200k (and I already have some of the lower level collections complete, that will lower the cost the next time).

I read the same post and enabled cloud saves too, but I don't think there is much demand for level 175-something healers.

huan: snip.
I'm on my first playthrough so I haven't got any experience with BBI yet.

But yeah if the purify costs are that much then 12k is nothing at all.

VanishedOne: Does anyone know what the NewServer beta channel is for?

Also, people here are saying only people using cloud saves can upload their pawns. Is that expected behaviour (i.e. does the Steam version act like that too) or a GOG/Galaxy-specific bug?

vonHardenberg: Don't quote me on this, but I had a chat with a chap that analyzed the GoG version's data transfer behaviour. This is distinctively second hand knowledge and for all I know, the guy might have been talking out of his behind...

It seems that the GoG version uploads the entire save file to a server, then retrieves it afterwards. In theory, the server should add the pawn rentals to the savegame, then reload the modified save in your game.

Except that this doesn't work worth crap for most here.

The upload points to one of GoG's servers, so I have to assume that the one doing cloud saves is the same as the one who is supposed to do the data injection, which might explain why it doesn't work without cloud saves being enabled, and why data corruption can occur in the first place.

Steam's version never transfers the entire file, so I assume there is an API that handles the pawn rental data independent of the cloud saves, and integrates both when you rest at an inn.

Conjecture: the whole process is so ingrained into the steam UI that a simple port wasn't possible, and the server call handling provided by galaxy isn't up to the task. So, no easy fix available that wouldn't require massive changes to either the game or the galaxy client.
It seems the pawn rental sync may not be simply piggybacking on the standard cloud save functionality, since DD 'uses cloud storage in a slightly different way' and, er, breaks one of its functions:

Summary: Backing up cloud saves does not back up cloud saves
Description:
Behaviour seen with Dragon's Dogma; I haven't tried cloud saves with other
games.

When I try to back up cloud saves, the client reports a small download, but I
don't get any save files: inside DDDA's !Downloads folder the client creates a
!Cloud Sync Backup folder, containing a saves folder, containing nothing.

Steps to Reproduce:
Have DDDA's cloud saves enabled and synced. Try to back up cloud saves.

Thanks for the report. As far as we know the issue is specific to Dragon's
Dogma. We'll investigate what to do about this, since that game uses our cloud
storage in a slightly different way.

tennisaddict1999: I really hope the pawn bug gets fixed. I am having a tough time with premade pawns late game.
I'm not having any trouble using online mode.
If I get badly made pawns, I just use the search feature to find better ones.

You do NOT need to use cloud save mode to use online mode; those are separate things.
I'm using online mode for the game with cloud saves disabled.

When will GOG/Capcom provide the latest update for the game?

Does using graphic overhaul mods such as ENB disable achievements on the GOG Galaxy version of the game?
Is the level 200 pawn bug still a thing? Aka. Once you hit that level you can only recruite offline pawns (Unless you pick level <200.)

Omg, is this update still not here? I just spent countless runs collecting all the gear for the trappings of evil quest but it won't complete because we don't have this bugfix that steam got almost two years ago? What the heck?!?!?!

Yup, there's still no update.
I think i remember asking GOG support back in 2017 if they'd get the latest updates for this game and iirc they said they're working on it but no ETA. 2 years later still nothing...

Paczyk: 7.Are my Steam cloud saves compatible with the GOG version? Save data for the Steam version of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will not work with the GOG version, and vice versa
I actually just migrated from Steam and my "imported" saves work just fine.
I mean, I get "Conection Failure" from time to time, but it happened on fresh save as well, so yeah, all working fine.
But it doesn't work the other way around mind you.
