I am very grateful that this game was added to the gog library - I've always wanted to play it, but never could. Thankfully, that has now been rectified. Unfortunately, this also had the side effect of making me want to play dragon lore 2 again (something I last did about 15 years ago), but I can't get it to work on my modern computer.

I realise the audience for this series is probably a bit on the small side, but seeing as the first game got added, what are the odds that the second one will make its way here too, eventually?

Probably not very high, but not zero. You can always vote in the community wishlist to let GOG know about your interest. Currently there are 147 votes for Dragon Lore II, mine included.
I'm also interested in purchasing the sequel if it is added to the GOG catalog.

Sorry for the necro, but I was digging through my shed and found this.
