Does anyone know what the version number was before the GOG PP version?

Asking mainly cause I had a backup of the game on an external HDD and wanted to see if that was the latest version prior to GOG's recent updates.

The files were backed up in 19-SEP-2021 version is 2.1.0.4 (1 exe file and 6 bin files) and there's also a 2.1.1.5 patch file (1 exe file) that's in the backup folder as well.

I'm hoping that is the last good version before the GOG PP update.

I'm sure they'll get the PP version fixed at some point, but I'm worried as others mentioned about the CPU restrictions left in. If what people are saying it true, then the version I'm listing shouldn't have any CPU restrictions or at least whatever the old limits were. Hopefully whatever fix they now implement reverts that part of the change or improves it.

Thanks in advance. :)

P.S. The Witcher EE DC PP version works good so far. I'm currently playing it w/o any issues with and without mods. So, I'm hoping they get it right the 2nd time (or is it 3rd time? lol) with the PP update for DAO UE.

I downloaded it last year and it was 2.1.0.4 and the 2.1.1.5 patch, so I think you probably have the last good version.

Thank you for confirming that. I hope GOG can fix the PP version properly. I'm also glad I backed it up lol.

I wish GOG had a procedure (or policy) to save older versions for at least 15 to 30 days to ensure the newer versions are working as intended. The DOA PP update was a huge oversight, not to mention the changes to CPU usage.

I love GOG, but sometimes they do things that has me scratching my head lol.

Once again, thank you for that info, I feel relieved now. :)

Can you please clarify what does PP mean in this "DOA PP update"? And what does this update do?

Thank you!

Later Edit: Realized it refers to the Preservation Project, but still not sure how it is different to the original.

Hi there!

If you go to the Dragon Age: Origins product page and look on the right side. You will see a heading that says GOG Preservation Program and under that it lists the changes to DAO. There's also a Learn More link to see more details about the program.

I'll just provide the link for convenience. :)

Edit:
Aaah, looking at your question again, I'm not 100% sure, but I may have some info on a comparison.

1. I think the new version is GOG verifying that it works on Windows 10/11 and gets the PP stamp in manner of speaking. Though if I recall some user comments, I believe it still works on Windows 7. GOG is no longer listing Windows 7 though.

2. They also limited the CPU core usage to 2. Though this part is being debated as some people have issues with the game. The previous version prior to the PP version, did not seem to have a limit to CPU core usage. I was never really even aware of it until the debate. The previous version may have also needed the 4GB Patch. While the new PP version has the 4GB Patch already built into it.

3. If you use Galaxy I believe you can still rollback to the previous version, but I don't use Galaxy to install or play games, so I can't confirm this. But there are comments that suggest this is true or at least as of December.

There are some topics stickied on the DAO Forum section where people talk about the problems and some potential solutions for those affected. I am currently using the only version, though not patched yet, but will once I figure out all the mods I am going to use lol.

If you are planning on a playthrough, I do at least recommend Qwinn's Ultimate DAO Fixpack and Dain's Fixes w/o using the Tweaks folder in the mod, if you want pure vanilla game with most of the community bugfixes. These can be found on the Nexus Mods site. I'll just provide some more links for convenience. :)
