I know that this version of the game has all the necessary DLC and a lot of fixes so I bought this version for a friend and to replace my disc copy.

However, I wanted to make sure no other mods were needed for this, such as the Elven Boot mod, or other mods that restore missing items/gear.

I do know of the dog companion mod that is sometimes recommended as well as the Morrigan Restoration Mod. Although I have also heard that the Morrigan mod conflicts with a later in game quest and should be disabled before hand?

So any last mod installations that should be considered important for those playing for the first time would be much appreciated.

If I was only going to install one mod for a first playthrough, it would be Quinn's Ultimate DAO Fixpack.

It makes a lot of the smaller fixes, like the elven boot mod redundant.
But it does so by only fixing bugs or missing content. (So not like his popular Planescape Torment fixpack)
It includes the missing dialogue from the Morrigan Restoration Patch, but not the tweaking.

Though the extra dog slot is very popular, I wouldn't use it for a first playthrough.
The dog has interactions with other party members while out on the road that you don't get if he is just added as a summons.

Okay, cool! I used to own the regular disc version and had so mods installed but wasn't sure what to apply for this Ultimate edition.

We only need this pack? Should we use a mod manager or is there anything else we should keep in mind?

And of course, Thanks a lot for the detailed response!

As far as bugs go, that is all you need.
I think DAO-Modmanager is still the best way to install mods for this game. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/277

Though I have the Ultimate version, here on GOG, I still use the disc version because I have it heavily modded and I'm too lazy to reinstall everything.
Not having to put the disc in would be nice though.

I understand, thanks for the link.I'll be sure to remember this when we start modding this. This is a relief.

Ah, well saves transfer at least and good luck with modding if you do ever decide to swtich!

Thanks again!
Using the old official DAUpdater is good to install this mod, despite its bad message:
