I'm currently about 20 hours into the game. For a while, the game would intermittently crash at random points. However, now when I load my current save game, it crashes on the loading screen each and every time I try to load it.

I was able to work around it by uninstalling / reinstalling the game, but this caused a new issue of textures popping in and out when it hadn't been occurring before. Once I exited the game and attempted to load my save again, it went back to crashing on the loading screen.

I've tried turning off the frame-buffer effects and setting the process affinity to use only two cores, but there's still a problem. Setting compatibility mode doesn't seem to work either.

The only time it used to crash for me is when the game was loading a save in Denerim, which suffers from memory a leak, I use a lot of mods and that area becomes very unstable due to the 2 gig memory limitation. My workaround was to use the 4 gig patch on the exec (which you should back up first). That might help you, hard to say what your problem is, not enough information given. You can easily find the file and instructions just googling.

The Steam fix referred to by Wompoo did the trick for me.......I was also having the 'crash on save load' issue. That patch worked perfectly!
Same here, 4Gb patch helped. For now at least...
