king_kunat: Hello all! Some good news :D We have the build with fixes ready and we'll publish it today.

If any problems persist or new ones occur, feel free to report them via Technical Support tickets or let me know here - I'll forward it to the technical team.

Thank you for bearing with us <3
Can confirm the Core/Thread limit's in place again.

Consider that a problem that I'm requesting you forward to the technical team, cause there's no need for such a limit..

edit: In the meantime, found a workaround.

Download and install SystemInformer https://github.com/winsiderss/systeminformer (dl link is in link)

Start up DA Origins and set the CPU Affinity for DAOrigins.exe via SystemInformer to your desired value, then select "Save for DAOrigins.exe". (attached image has screenshot showing how to do this)

Now, if you start DA Origins while SystemInformer is running (you can set it so that it starts up on Windows boot and have it hide on close instead of fulling closing in the Settings -> Options menu), the CPU Affinity will be automatically set.

Greetings and Merry Christmas!

Checking in regarding the status of DA:O updates and patches on GOG, such as the 4GB memory and multi core patch.

Thankee!
The game worked bad and still works...they haven't fixed anything...FPS drops to 30...the game keeps twitching...it's terrible...I wish they would fix it...GOG I believe in you.
could you please answer or should waiting fixes for these cpu limits?

Hello! Could you please look into an issue I'm having regarding Dragon Age: Origins? The launcher will open, but once I click Play the game won't start. I have spoken to another person on these forums who ran into this same issue, so it's not isolated to me.

Right now I am confused. Is the latest version working alright now? Or is there another patch coming in the near future?

The latest version is working fine. All the DLC's work and the 4GB/LAA patch comes pre-applied. Core affinity is still set to two cores which some here have taken an issue with but I haven't noticed any problems myself. It's hard to tell for certain if it improves or negatively affects performance. You'd need someone to test it. Again though, I haven't had any issues.

I see. Well I guess I will have to try it out. Thank you! :-)

I did some testing out of curiosity and there was noticeable stuttering when core affinity was set to two cores. Changing it to all cores got rid of it. So DAO definitely plays better without the core limit. Not that I expect them to change things back.

In the meantime, I did post a "set it and forget it" workaround.
WTF with loading screen Guys please back old version ok 0.8 gog is shit
On my ASUS RoG laptop, the DAO configuration utility refuses to use my Geforce 3060 graphics card. Shows it as an option to pick but with a negative amount of ram and on an unsupported monitor of size 0x0. If I pick it and save options, the graphics card selection doesn't stick.
Doesn't honor the grapics card selection if I configure it in windows, either (Win 11 program specific display options)

It's practically unplayable on the integrated AMD card. Stutters very badly.

Good news is it plays wonderfully on my steamdeck. So I've been using that instead.

I played DAO purchased from GOG several years ago with no issues. I started playing it again a couple weeks ago with the latest patch, and have been having major issues with slowdown every time a conversation starts and the game consistently freezing/crashing (to the point I had to restart the entire computer) when loading certain cutscenes.

I know this was related to my hardware as when I tried loading the same save file in the same updated version of the game on my much-lower-specs laptop, I was able to continue through those scenes with no freezing and the conversation slowdown issue did not occur either.

I just tried this method with using SystemInformer to increase CPU affinity from 2 to 4, and the issue appears to be resolved. So hopefully the tech team can address this with the version of the game through GOG so that people don't need to manually make this change just to get the game to run!

EDIT: I spoke too soon. Turns out my issue seems to be related to resolution. When I tested it, I had been in windowed mode and reduced the resolution from 1920x1080 to 1600x900 so I could more easily switch between SystemInformer and DAO easily. As soon as I reloaded the file and returned to 1920x1080 full screen, it immediately froze in the same cutscene again. Just tried it again in both windowed and full screen mode at 1600x900 now and am having no issues.

Not sure what could be causing this/if this is something the tech team might be able to look into or address for other players, but wanted to share an update. Will edit this if I start running into issues again even at the lower resolution.

Making a new post because it turns out I'm still experiencing the same issue despite playing on the lower resolution. Yesterday the game was fine with no slowdown/freezing, but today it started slowing down when entering conversations and then ultimately froze. Even after fully restarting the computer, just loading the same save file and trying to progress the same conversation will cause the game to completely freeze (and because I'm playing in full screen, I can't even open task manager to end the task).

Here are my PC specs. I really have no idea what else to try at this point, so if anyone has any ideas please share!

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
RAM: 16GB
OS: Windows 11

I know that DA:O had some issues with save game corruption. You may have run into that issue. You might try creating a new save and seeing it it has the same issues at the same cutscenes.
