I'm using win 7 home premium (64-bit) with an Nvidia GT730 Graphics card & GZDoom (every version so far) is forcing software mode when my last "Puter (win 7 home premium (64-bit) with an Nvidia GT740 Graphics card) ran it looking so much better.

GzDoom seems to be the only game that doesn't seem to run at least as well on this current system as on the last one.

Any help would be appreciated

First: right-click on your desktop, open the Nvidia control panel, and in "manage 3D parameters", add GZDoom to the list of programs that need to be handled by "high performances Nvidia whatever" instead of the integrated graphics. You may need to manually add GZDoom to the list of programs for that.

Secondly: in GZDoom, open the console, type "vid_renderer 1", then quit and restart the game. It should be in OpenGL mode after restarting.

thank you for the info but the issue turned out to be the "Doom Explorer" launcher I was using & when I switched to ZDL GZDoom worked as it should.
Alternatively you can also edit your gzdoom-yourusername.ini in gzdoom directory.

vid_renderer=0 for software
vid_renderer=1 for OpenGL

tried that, on this 'Puter the launcher Doom explorer was forcing software mode when it didn't do that before on previous rig.
