I am very happy to see that classic non BFG version of Doom 3 is finally available. I am even more happy to see it was added to my collection.
Big thanks for GoG team for their fine work :)
I have that game on my wishlist for a very long time.

Nice Gift
Finally!
It took GOG five years, to give us the original Doom 3, since its release of the BFG edition in January 2018. Doom 3 itself will actually turn 19 years in 2023 and now we all have finally the chance to play it in its original glory. I have just played it once in its original state, back in 2011, and only started playing it again in 2018, when GOG got its hands on the BFG edition. As much as I have loved it, I was always hating the fact that the BFG edition is a little zoomed in, so you see less of your gun, which is especially annoying for the BFG, since the information on its HUD is important, so that you won't accidentally overcharge it, which can happen quickly, killing you instantly. Alright, it is just a minor problem, but being now able to have the original experience makes me extremely excited.

I will finally playtest it today and I am already wondering if the original is truly much darker than the BFG edition, as so many veteran Doom 3 players have always stated, because to me the BFG edition was actually dark enough, yet, as I have just written, so many have complained that the lightning in the BFG edition is way brighter, than in the vanilla version. Knowing that some things have even received a big cut in the BFG edition, like a fight in Hell in the Resurrection Of Evil expansion, makes me even more excited to experience Doom 3 in the way Id Software actually wanted it to be.

Anyway, my big thanks goes to GOG and I hope that one day you guys will be allowed by Blizzard to finally give us Diablo 2 as well, because then my gaming life will be complete! :-) Thank you so much again!

This is the meaning of perfection, much appreciated to the GOG Team.
This seems to be only vanilla Doom 3, no RoE. Although weirdly enough they included CD keys for both.

EDIT: Er woops, actually RoE *is* included. Apparently it's under the MODS button in the menu. Was it like that
originally? Guess I'm just used to launching the expansion directly from Steam or something, never had the retail
version of RoE, just vanilla Doom 3, then later got Doom 3 + exp on Steam years later.

Make sure to also get Doom 3 Enhanced Edition for widescreen and such.

You can also try Dhewm, but it seems to run like garbage for me.

Then there's also FHDoom, but surprise surprise, it wouldn't run because some stupid redist was missing... as usual.

Make sure to write down the CD keys GoG has provided, because for some reason Enhanced Edition
asks for them, while vanilla Doom 3 doesn't seem to ask for it, weird (and needlessly annoying)

thanks GOG. the original is my favourite version. time to play it again.
Well, Doom 1 + 2 is for freaks, but Doom 3 is indeed the probably best Doom on par with Doom 2016. The newer/newest Doom is not truly worth it. I hope GoG someday may be able to add Doom 2016, then it would be perfect for the fans out there.

Doom is my favorite series, thank you GOG!
I hope that GoG will also add one day games like:
Prey (2006), Doom (2016), Wolfenstein (2009) and Rage
So my collection of id Software games could grow.
I understood that it could be hard to distribute them when original developers are gone but I belive GoG have own lawyers/detectives to sort who hold rights to those games.

Doom 2016 is my #1 game I would like to have from GOG
