I've been trying to get this mod to work but a couple of things confuse me. One is regarding the number of download files, 7 total, and how I'm supposed to only extract part one and that the other parts are automatically attached to that extracted file, thus you don't need to extract them (can't say I understand that much).

Furthermore, when I launch the server program made by Futaradragon and try to connect the folder path to the Don't Starve folder it only gives me a box that says "select the Don't Starve folder", which I had just done. One YouTube user said to add an underscore to the folder path, but it didn't work, or I did it wrong.

If anyone has a simple step by step installation and launch of this mod, or if they know of a better multiplayer (online) mod, let me know, and that will be equally helpful :)

This video from FutaraDragon explains it pretty well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKnE8qMOE-k
But you could fail anyway, for the simple reason, you're using the GOG standalone version. It could be, that the mod is made for the Steam version only.

Didn't think there was a significant difference between the versions, or am I wrong? I do know that the Steam version allows addons via Steam Workshop, but there surely must be a way to get any mods working with the GOG or any other standalone version?

Yes, I think so too, but the Online Citizen Mod is not the usual mod, because it wraps whole parts of the game as it seems (check the video). As I don't use Steam, I don't know how far the Steam client is involved in this.
I didn't even know this existed. How stable is it and any certain limitations?
Fancy, isn't it. Amazing what people create. But I don't use it, so I can't help on details, sorry.

That does seem pretty involved. I've looked around the code a bit though, so I don't think there should be any differences. Also watched that video - seems that the main thing is that they've added a significant amount of external code that hooks into the DS mod code. So I still don't think it's the GOG version's fault, as far as I can tell. It looks to be a pretty complex mod though so numerous external factors could be at play...

Best bet would be to contact the board that hosts the mod, ideally the mod author's page or the authors themselves.

As I'm typing this noted this tidbit on the YouTube comments:

Support All But must rename the don't starve folder to "dont_starve"

So that might be it...
