I'm not sure why, but my character's resistance keeps increasing by itself.. I have Magic Barrier 5, which should give me 25 resists across the board, but when I started playing last night, I noticed when I took everything off, they were all 55.. By the end of the play session, they were all 65!
I mean, it's kind of nice to be so resistant, but I'm worried that it'll increase to the point where it corrupts the game and makes it unplayable before I have a chance to complete it.
As of now, my resists, with equipment, are between 105 and 140, without using charms!
Well I guess it doesn't matter now. It seems my game is hosed. Zaknadrix, the Imp that is supposed to take me to the Imp to join the council, just attacks me instead of talking to me, so the main quest is broken.
Don't feel like playing through all that again.
Are you playing a GOG game or retail version?
There was a bug in the older retail version where if you refuse to touch the imp's ball the first time he offers it . . . he would not offer it again. That was fixed in later patches as well as many other fixes. If you are playing a retail version, make sure you have the latest patches installed.
Is his dot red in the mini map? What is your reputation? Make sure you have no cursed weapons / armor equipped. Make sure you have no amulets / rings which have a negative reputation modifier.

My reputation is 36... my reputation with the imp is 0/Neutral but he attacks me, follows me out of the place and the guards kill him.
It's the GOG version.

You are meeting the Imp at the Ducal Inn in Verdistis?
The quest should go as follows:
You should have received the quest to put together the Council of Seven from Zandalor which causes Zaknadrix to be available.
Go to the room in the far east of the Ducal Inn, where you'll find an Imp, Zaknadrix. He's not the Council member you're looking for, however; he's merely holding a magical sphere in which the Council member is trapped. Dialog should give you the option to touch the sphere.
I can find no mention of Zaknadrix attacking. If you are at the right place, with the right Imp, have not refused to touch the shpere before and have not used a character editor then you seem to have a new bug.

Lovely, I found a new bug, because he attacks me on sight, and there is no dialogue. The worst thing is, even if I kill him and scry again, the game will tell me he's still there.
As Pvt Hudson says in the movie Aliens: "Game over man, game over!!"

Bummer, sounds like a corrupted save file. I found, in the old version, that I would get save corruptions if I used the "Quick Save". I started using the "S" key for all my saves and never had another save corruption. Sorry to hear it was on a main quest.
Possibly solve a quest or two and go back??
I tried doing every quest up to that point.. Still borked. Not sure if I feel like going through the whole game again from the start without using quicksave, though. When I play through CRPGs, greater than 98% of my saves tend to be quicksaves, since they don't break the flow of the game.
If it's any consolation, I've experienced the exact same problem with Zaknadrix attacking me.
I have a suspicion on the cause based on something else that happened to me earlier in the game - I accidentally attacked a cat to the east of the Inn when I was killing all the insects, and thereafter all the cats of Verdistis kept attacking me on sight.
I'm wondering if this is the cause of the problem with Zaknadrix.. earlier in the game I managed to land a few blows on what I think was an Imp.. it was after being lured by the moving light. Maybe the game isn't expecting you to have time to land any blows, and thus having odne so, turns all the imps hostile? I'm grasping at straws here, but it seems as good an explanation as any.
Of course, as the earlier poster said, without some way to fix the issue, it's basically game over. Which is a pity, since it's likely so close to the endgame :(
There aren't too many Imp's early on so that is a good theory.
I do know that . . . if you kill domestic animals i.e. dogs, cats, rabbits and chickens . . the dogs and cats will attack you relentlessly. I believe if your reputation gets high enough or you kill enough of the critters attacking you . . they seem to eventually stop attacking . . . not sure what the exact reason they stop attacking you is though . . .=)

I never killed an animal, and the only other imp I ran into is ZixZax.. And that might be where the bug manifested.. After he gave me the teleport pyramids back, I talked to him some, then I went to scry for the others.. When I came back in the room ZixZax was in to talk to him again, he was red on the map radar, and refused to talk to me.. He didn't attack me and I couldn't attack him either, and once I left the place and came back he was gone, so I didn't think much of it at the time.. But for some reason I guess something wigged out there and made all imps hostile to me.
Well, I found an interesting couple of articles at the LocusInn website, particularly regarding hacking your location:
http://www.locusinn.com/show/infopage?infoid=8&gameid=179
There's also an article above reviving dead NPCs. Unfortunately, Zaknadrix isn't identifiable in the data.000. Using the teleport cheat, I was able to teleport to the 'other world' and find Antx, but unfortunately he too is red, and won't talk to me. And he seems to be flagged as indestructable, so I can't even kill and try resurrecting him according to the article.
As an alternative, reading a walkthrough I see that you're meant to be teleporterd to a 'Wasteland' when you've assembled the final council member and do some ceremony, and the starting position in the Wastelands is helpfully given on the second page on the article. Since this is bypassing the full proper ceremony, it seems I'm missing out on free 5 bonus levels and the 'Path of the Divine' spell area. I also found the two trolls near the starting point in hostile mode and had to fight them - according to the walkthrough they're supposed to be friendly.
Anyway, I'm going to see if I can complete the game this way so I can at least see the ending.
I guess after I finish Risen I'll just start DivDiv over, and hope it doesn't happen again. It's just, if the issue is quicksaving, that just sucks, because the almost required reloading when trying to get decent items would take a hell of a lot longer having to go to the save/load screen every time.. Plus I already tend to forget about saving as it is.. I think that'll just make the problem worse!
It'd be nice if they figured out a way to eliminate that issue with a patch.
I have the same problem with Zaknadrix attacking me on site. ZixZax shows as a red dot (hostile) as well. I reverted to an earlier save, but the same thing happened. It has to be something I did while in Rivertown.
Has anyone figured out what causes this evil imp bug?
I've started the game over and I truly want to avoid this bug!
Zaknadrix better talk to me and not just attack this time . . .
I had a few strange things happen before I came to the game ending bug.
I was using the skills 'resurrect' and 'aura of command' to create an undead army to fight on my side. My army often attacked NPC's during cut scenes and killed every dog, rat and rabbit on the map. Dreammaster mentioned attacking a cat might have caused the problem, but I never went after pussy.
I was also using quicksave frequently. I never had any problems saving or loading though. Save game corruption doesn't seem like a likely culprit.
Were y'all using the skills 'resurrect' or 'aura of command' when you encountered the evil imp bug?
I had a very strange thing happen due to my use of these skills. I resurrected Cyrion and used 'aura of command' on him. He fought for me all through the dungeons of Rivertown. After I went to Verdistis for the first time, Cyrion stopped fighting and just followed me. I couln't use 'banish' on him or 'poison cloud' or affect him in any way. He just followed me like a groupie. I was also able to have 6 followers under 'aura of command' even though my skill level only allowed for 4 followers. I reverted to a save before leaving Rivertown and banished Cyrion, but I still encountered the evil imp bug.
I'm using extreme caution during this play through. I just want to finally finish the game!
I hope y'all can give me some further suggestions on what NOT to do.
Thanks.
