I can't remember playing the game without experiencing a crash. No rhyme or reason to the crashes, they just happen. I see lots of folks that say it crashes to the desktop but mine just goes to no video and I have to cycle power to get back in.

dougaiton: How well tested was DD's new patch?
I only ask, because the game is virtually unplayable for me. Played a bit, ran into problem with teleporter stone listed in another thread. No way of fixing it.
No problem - restarted with a new chatacter. Can't enter the catacombs, as every time I try to change a level (either down the steps or using the teleporter stone) the camera remains fixed on the original level, so I can't see or move my character. The automap just goes black.
Okay, third character. This time, whenever Larimor turns up to give me the pyramid stone, the whole screen goes black, and it just crashes straight to desktop. This then happens with any save I use for that character, as do all the other bugs.
I can't believe that if on my fourth attempt to get past the opening settlement I manage to get through, there won't be any more game breakers for me just round the corner.
This is the first time I've ever been completely disappointed by a GOG purchase. For me (running a 1GB eee netbook with XP, which played the non-GOG version of DD fine), this game seems to be completely corrupted by game-breaking bugs. It seems bizarre that I can be the only one experiencing this?

Drakken13: Another problem i seem to have was when talked to the imp for the seven council quest and denied him the first time i have tried to talk to him to enter the place in the staff but i get no option to enter again. is there a way to fix the problem without starting all over again.

Stuff: Maybe not, follow this link and go to the very bottom to see DON'T tips, last tip, it's an old walkthru so they may have fixed the one time option in a later patch???

O well thank you Stuff for the link i guess i have to do all over again even if I'm level 30. I already did 3 of the don't do tips so might as well.

It is an old DON'T list and may be incorrect since it was done 2002 I think. I plan on starting over with a new character once the patch is released anyway. Should be a great play thru with the bugs gone.
are you still playing on, stuff? I can't anymore... the bugs are now too frequent to ignore, and I can't bypass a lot of them now.
I'd love to hear an update from Larian.

Yes and No, Josephina stops my main quest since I can't recruit the Elf without getting past her. I have the same bugs, Church/monks, statues and Josephina as most people but have fairly smooth game play. Shrimpo did not crash me and I don't CTD with Josephina until she actually spikes me rather than the immediate CTD that others seem to get when they close the dialog. I'm overwhelmed by the dwarf attack. I also found a work around for Demona which allowed me to recruit the wizard.
I did have a severe crash in the sewers under Rivertown that no one else seems to have had, the latest driver fixed that.
I do get an occasional crash but can go for hours without one. XP Pro 32, SP2, Intel Core 2 Quad, Nvidia 8500 GT, 4 GB of RAM and not setting affinity if your interested in setup.
I couldn't go down in the cellars at the Warriors guild or Imp Fortress so I looked at those again over the weekend. I realized I was in the Matrix and didn't have to be at the stairs to use the stairs . . . =^ ) . . . I posted my work around in a separate thread. That opened up the Warriors Guild quest. I am just clearing up side quest and clearing the map anticipating a replay after the patch.
It would be nice to hear something concerning a patch, I will probably fire up Sacred Gold next weekend as that was my plan before DD was released. I had just finished my first play thru and want to try some of the other characters.
do you recommend sacred gold?
i'm thinking of picking up another title for the meantime

I do, spent 90 + hours playing the game (it keeps up with your time), was my favorite GOG RPG till DD. Just finished my first play thru when DD was released. It is not the same and you should read the GOG reviews and SG forum before purchasing. I found the respawn a bit tedious but I got use to it and it helped level up faster. BIG game, you can wonder forever it seems.
I will be playing that till the patch for DD. I got past Josephina so I may finish DD this weekend. I really wanted to try some of the different character builds in SG.

I'm in holidays this week, not that I'm the only one working at Larian, but I'm the go-to guy for Div so expect more next week. Also take into account that once we've tried to fix what we can, the patch will still need testing.
I vote to be a tester
thank you Deathknight for speaking up, very much appreciated, happy holidays!!
and yes i vote to be a tester too ;-)
i am very patient, dont mind crashing a lot, and I write good reports so i'm perfect to be a tester
Land of the Dead
Cleared all of the map except the swamp and South West area. Not a single CTD until I started on the South West corner, had maybe 8 or 9 CTDs in 30 minutes, mostly with the Imp mages but every time I encountered the four Dragon Riders group. I defeated 4 or 5 single Dragon Riders in the upper and mid map areas without any problems.
For some reason, the South West gives one CTD after another????
Edit: Changing to 800 x 600 and taking two or three Imps at a time seems to stop the CTDs. Luring one of the four Dragon Riders at a time also stopped that crash which was a CTD with all four on screen. Other than leveling up, there is no need to clear the map once you get the spirit form skill.
Edit2: Once in the Black Lake area . . . played great till Iona, she caused a CTD on her first strike, every time.
Found if I used super Shadow, as soon as I closed the dialog, in combination with the warriors special move, that I could take her out easily. I think that may be a work around for bad guys earlier in the game for a warrior, if they can't see you, the strike that CTD's the game never happens and you can hack away with the special move when invisible.
