First thing's first- I'm glad I grabbed the game. It's awesome. That said, under Vista I'm seeing crashes every now and then, and when underground (early on in the game) sometimes the game pops up a message saying it can't save to my harddrive. A save file is created, but as a temp file (with.tmp extension). A moment later I can save without issue.
Any ideas?

Hi,
regarding the saves, someone in this thread was having the same problem. Apparently Norton AV 2009 was causing the issue...

I use Avast. Ralackk in that thread mentioned he used Avast, so... does that mean Avast works and the issue is related to something else? :)
Well I've had no trouble at all saving with Avast running in the background. I have to say I've only played it for a couple hours so far though just to see what it was like. I'm on a XP system though and not Vista so that may have something to do with it. Did you install the game to program files by any chance?

Hi,
Devine Divinity looks very promising but I got exactely the
same issues here.
I crash a lot in the catacombs and I got that message telling me I cannot save.
After each crash the program asked me to clean some files. (and give me option of graphic resolution...) and
If I don't launch DD as main admin it doesn't launch also...
I'm on Vista 32 and Kaspersky installed.
I played Sacred, Fallout tactics... known of my other GOG games got that crash issues
Very very buggy... perharps our belgium Knight friend can check our saved game ?
regards

The game isn't really faulty, I've played 12 hrs+ without *any* crash (done atacombs, farms, orc camp missions, a lot of sidequests...). So the crashes are compatibilty problems I think.
Vista is crappy, and many AV are reported to create problems (Norton mostly). I have XP and a light AV - Avira AV (freeware), and much less problems this way !
I still have one annoying problem - due to Windows : with this game and others, Windows "changes focus" automatically from time to time and minimize the game while I'm playing ! Any idea for solving this ?

PDF: The game isn't really faulty,

Compare to other GOG releases which are running smooth and with absolutely NO crash on my computer (Disciples, Sacred, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics...) I don't have enough clue to accuse Vista and my AV.
I would IF the crashes were occuring on any of my other GOG games.

After 5+ hours of gameplay i've only had 1 crash. Playing on Windows XP SP2 with no antivirus installed. I only use Windows for playing anyway :D
I'm getting similar crashes under windows 7 32 bit, and I don't have any installed anti-virus (yet to find a good one for windows 7).
Just as an update- disabling Avast's shields (web and standard) seems to have fixed all of my issues... though hopefully saying that isn't akin to famous last words :) I haven't seen a crash, save issue or even the corrupted sound quirk. So, I'm pretty happy :P
I have zero issues with anything else under Vista, and I run a lot more than games. Vista isn't the issue- it seems like DD is just a little sensitive in its old age.
Darn Microsoft...had windows defender running
After turning off auto-protect, no more crashes.

Is it possible to somehow sticky this one? As an alternative, we need some "collective wisdom" post with things that might increase the stability (turning antivirus off, sticking to native resolutions etc.)
Just to add my two cents, the game runs fairly well for me under Vista, but crashes completely if I use any animal statuette, and most recently, if I try to fight Demona -- unfortunate since it's a main quest event. Anyone else had these issues? Any hope of a patch?
As reported by others, I'm consistently getting crashes at multiple points:
* Church (after "cutscene")
* NE corner of map (after knight/troll "cutscene" and final troll dies)
For now, I have to avoid triggering those areas. I have had other crashes during "boss" battles, but have managed to get past them by returning at a later point.
Win XP3. Avast is installed but is suspended/disabled. Crashes at those points are consistent regardless of resolution. Given the crash situations, it seems like a logic/scripting issue more than a driver/system issue.

Larian Studios guys already acknowledged that one in their forums, it's under investigation. Think we'll be getting a patch soon.
