Dear god, I am loving this game!

A little background. I hadn't heard of the Divinity series before seeing Angry Joe's hilarious and positive review of Divinity: Dragon Commander. Didn't take me too much longer after that to look up the series here on GOG and pick up the series. I (unfortunately) didn't hear about Divinity: Original Sin until just after the Kickstarter had closed. But what I'd seen of it at the time strongly reminded me of Neverwinter Nights. Okay, so fast forward to a couple months ago and I watched some of the gameplay videos. I amended that to NWN meets Fallout-style combat.

I knew people were already playing some of the game due to Steam Early Access. But I knew GOG would get the game so I held out. Anticipation was running high for me as the game was released on Steam, but delayed here. Day of release on GOG I bought it.

Can't say I'm disappointed. The game has an insane level of interaction with the environment. I'm constantly finding new ways to get my characters out of (or in to) jams and scrapes. My wizard destroyed a water barrel in Cyseal. Now, I'd been merrily smashing barrels and crates all over town with no problem, but for some reason the guard took exception to this. I was attacked by said guard, two nearby civilians and the two bulls tethered to nearby carts. That part surprised me.

While I was able to deal some decent damage to the guard by luring him into the water and electrifying it, the bulls destroyed me. Good times! =)

I've gone around the town searching for more quests and items. I talked to the guy outside the Inn and joined their quest guild (totally smacks of a pyramid scheme - I may regret this, heh), talked to a healer with an unusual healing stone, raided the mayor's library and caused a bit of a ruckus around town. I'm playing a male ranger and a female wizard. Only level 2 at the moment, and just getting ready to leave Cyseal to investigate the undead problem. It is a little difficult playing two ranged fighters as my mains, but I'm holding my own so far. I did find a person in the library willing to join and he's a decent fighter, so I now have a frontline warrior to help draw the enemy away from the two mains.

And patches are frequent and quick to get to GOG (usually within 24 hours of showing up on Steam). Just noticed a new patch today, in fact.

In all, the game has exceeded my expectations. One of the few games I'd been anticipating this year, and so far the only game released recently where I really want to see what's next and what new combination of skills I can put together to do neat things. Great job, Larian!

There is another companion in town you can find that is a better warrior than Jahan (not too far from where you fond him, actually). Depending on how much of the murder quest you have done, you may have walked right by her (you were definitely close).

Jahan is who I found, yes. As for the murder, I investigated the scene and found a stone, then was prompted to teleport to The End of Time. Now I'm in an area called (I think) Hall of Heroes, which looks like a green forest so far. I'm going at a bit of a slow pace since I'm splitting my game time between this and Baldur's Gate Trilogy at the moment. Though for now I'm spending more time on D:OS.

Fabulous Five, that's the guild I was thinking of. They seem to have lots of fans in Cyseal, that's for sure...

That's what I call multitasking! :-p When I'm playing a crpg, I can't be distracted by another game, even if it is some racing or fps. Anyway, I'm just waiting the first patches to roll in, before I start playing it..

I've always been like that, splitting time between multiple books, games, etc. When I was playing Skyrim, I was also playing Kingdoms of Amalur and Saint's Row The Third. And my classmates thought I was insane for taking (and passing) two programming courses per quarter at community college. Visual Basic and Java one quarter, Pascal and C the next quarter, COBOL and C++ the next. And the last two also included SQL and Advanced SQL courses. My last quarter I only had JCL for a programming/scripting course. I had already taken the other courses in my list. =)

What's not on the list is that I'm also adding in some time to play Minecraft with my wife, lol.

I'm loving the game as well. I've restarted at least 4 times now trying to make the perfect pet summoning character, haha..

But there are some issues I've noticed. It becomes more apparent as the game goes by, but there ARE bugs and a good few typos. My character has turned invisible with only his armor showing and floating. NPCs doing weird things like walking straight into mines. There's a few other things too. All in all, I hope these new patches they released fix many issues I've experienced so far.

I probably plan to restart again after patching, to hopefully fix any issues, and as pet summoning has proved difficult later in the game.

That's the very reason I didn't started it yet.. inevitably, I'll run into bugs that I'm afraid they will ruin the immersion so I take my time. As the new patches roll in almost daily, I hope that, at least the major bugs, will be fixed by the coming September, so I can finally start playing.. :-)

ps.. yes, I'm *that* patient.. :-D

Obviously, I was only patient enough to wait for the game to come to GOG, heh.

Of course, considering how many games I picked up during the recent summer sale, I could afford to wait to play for a bit... Not!! =D

There is a lot to like about this game, too bad, for some strange reason this game bores me to tears. A great achievement by Larian, just not for me.

Hi, Raze. I found who you were talking about. I love her comments about cats, especially purring. And she is definitely a good fighter, though a little squishy (as we all are) at the moment. I did find her some decent armour, but I haven't found too much in the way of skill books yet, so not many buffs available yet.

Recently I found a tunnel in the graveyard leading outside the city walls. I did okay in the tunnels, but got surrounded near the exit by a group of level 3 and 4 undead. Four squishies against somewhere around 15 undead. We didn't last long, heh.

Also ran into a sentient wishing well wanting me to free his bother. Teleported to the brother's location and talked with him before teleporting back. Most forays outside the city walls have resulted in the swift death of the party due to various enemies - level 7 wolves, level 6 orcs, level 5 - 7 undead. I did find an area with level 3 undead, and we've been making hit-and-run strikes there. It's helped. The party is around level 4 right now.

Aureus in the legion headquarters sells warrior skill books, and Shereth upstairs in the King Crab sells witchcraft (and scoundrel), if you are looking for buffs. There is also Arhu for fire/earth and a couple in the market for water/air and ranger.

The area to the north west is the best place to start, out the gate behind the King Crab. There is a house a little north east of there you might want to check out, though, if you haven't already (can also go out the north gate and head NW to get there).

I'll check them out. Sadly, I've been all over Cyseal and I haven't found Arhu yet. I've probably walked by him a dozen or so times without realizing it, I'm sure.

I've gone out the NW gate and can handle most of the mobs there as long as there's about four to six in a group. Any more than that and we tend to get overwhelmed. Still, I'm trying to take it slow and steady, and it feels like we're making progress. I'll be playing more tonight, so there will be more updates and questions soon. =)

Read the signpost at the base of the pillar outside the legion headquarters. :)

Oh, geeze. Like I said, walked by him a ton of times, heh. Thanks, Hickory!

Hints; If you have pet pal you can help a cat find puss love and perhaps the widow knows more than she is letting on.
