Hello all,

Been playing this game, love it, however seems I got stuck here. I have completed all the quest I could have, and only need to go to the healer city to pick up the item needed to finish that part of the main quest line, via talking to Sepp to travel.

The problem is that I do so, then the loading screen shows up, a few seconds loading and freezes, to then later exit to desktop.

What can I do? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you hit Esc, does the game continue? If the problem is in starting the cutscene video, hitting Esc to skip it may help, though it doesn't sound like the video itself is starting to play.

Problems with the cutscene at the start of the Flames of Vengeance section of the game can be due to the audio codec. In that case it may help to re-install the AC3filter audio codec. I don't know if the initial Aleroth video uses the same codec, though.

Try lowering the game resolution and graphics settings to see if that helps.

Try running the Developer Mode version of the game, to see if that makes a difference.

Try verifying local files: in the (optional) Galaxy client, select the game in the left column, then click on the More button, and in the Manage menu select 'Verify / Repair'.

Check for updated graphics drivers; that help one person with a black screen at the FoV transition.

Try the 4GB Patch to increase the amount of virtual memory that the game (or any 32 bit application) can access in 64 bit versions of Windows.

Setting the game to run in a window may help (it can with the transition into the end section of the game). To do so, edit the file below in a text editor and change the one to a zero in Fullscreen="1".
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Profile\graphicoptions.xml

The easiest way to get to that folder would probably be to copy the following into the location bar in Windows Explorer.
%LocalAppData%\Divinity 2\Profile

To browse there, you may need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders (covers Vista through Win 10).

Try starting a video in Windows Media Player, pause it, and leave it running in the background when you start the game. That can help if there are problems with certain video filters or codecs.

I'm not sure if the game uses a video for that cutscene; at least I don't see it checking in the '..\Divinity II - Developers Cut\Data\Video' folder.
Try disabling playing videos: in the install folder, edit the '..\data\globalswitches.xml' file in a text editor and change the one to a zero in the term PlayVideo="1" and save.

If that doesn't help, please email support@larian.com with your save there (or a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc), and mention what language you are playing in.
Saves are in the %LocalAppData%\Divinity 2\Savegames folder (as above for the '..\Divinity 2\Profile' folder).
In Windows Explorer you can zip a file or folder by right clicking on it/them and selecting 'Send To | Compressed (zipped) Folder'.

Hello!
Thanks for the reply. This problem was solved with doing a "verify" in GOG and could progress. However, after "coming back" from the trap, so to speak, if I acces the ministry building next to it, or go to the battle tower, and then later go back to the city, loading screen gets stuck after a few seconds and then exits to desktop, closing the game.

In both cases it would be just a game transition from area to area, rather than problem with cutscenes. What can I do?

Did you try the troubleshooting above (that wasn't video related)?

If you email supportdos2@larian.com with your latest save I can check it here.

Well i have exactly the same problem. When i go on low graphics the game (Aleroth) successfully loads. I setted low when I first came to Aleroth and it worked but later i changed on high graphics and everything was ok untill i came to the battle tower and wanted to go back to aleroth. Loading screen crashed and it threw me to desktop
Is there anything i can do about it? I don’t want to play on low graphics because it isn’t the same fun. I tried to verify or fix the game in gog but it didn’t work.
Please help

I noticed that the game works when the textures are set to medium and the rest of the graphics settings can even be very high
