I found the catacombs (especially that there were five levels) very unnerving, but they're supposed to be like this. It makes you careful on your way out, you gain exp & after a while it just gets very entertaining to slash the skeletons.
Oh, and if you first go to kill the orcs (which I did) the catacombs are going to be very, like, very boring.

Probably a retarded post, but the only weapon I've been able to find so far is this club that broke after beating 3-4 skeletons to re-death with. now I'm punching everything and this is hard as hell.

:( where do I find more weapons

EDIT: Nvm, found a Dirk in the basement where you wake up. /redface

Plunder the whole village. There're weapons everywhere. You can fight with spoons and forks. Actually I figured out how to fight by throwing plates (awesomeness, but no recommended, leads to early, painful death) Or just steal those real weapons from Lanilor. How boring.
Let's bump up this thread haha. I just started playing this game, and while i was thinking i'm not going to like it (hate diablo) omg it's good game! I'm enjoying so much!

At first i was fucking pissed because i didn't know my gear can brake, but i learned, red a bit of forums, not too much since that can ruin your whole game.

The game resembles Diablo only in the first stage. After you get out of the starting village it becomes a full scale RPG. So even if someone doesn't like Diablo, he can still give DD a try.
As the thread got bumped, let's answer (again): yes, it IS supposed to be"this" hard, especialy on higher difficulties. And if you picked the wrong skills.

And the first game, and Beyond (probably the others too) are notoriously Open World, so there will be enemies which you should avoid/run away from, like the orc drummer here.

Also please note, that magic is not very good in Divine Divinity, especialy not balanced for the early stages. It canbe made working, but definitely needs attention and some patience.
