Like most things in this game that don't make any sense (Such as not being able to upgrade cloth items with cloth scraps or wood items with wood), It doesn't make any sense to not being able to craft a high grade magical item according to your intelligence level.

This is just outright dumb.

A class should only be able to create things according to their class...For example, A warrior and a mage should not be able to craft specific things that the other can craft, however a battle mage would be able to craft some magical items but not to the extent a wizard or enchanter could.

On top of that a class should not just be able to craft anything that class type can craft. For example a battlemage should not be able to craft healing items, only a cleric or priest should be able to do that, just like a cleric and priest should not be able to craft damage enhancements and only be able to crafts healing items.

Well, one of the things about the series - from the get-go - was that it didn't have "classes" in the same manner as more traditional RPGs a la the Baldur's Gate / Infinity Engine games. In those, there are definitely some "you can not do this because you're XYZ class" rules. The Divinity series RPGs, on the other hand, let you create your own mishmash of a character in just about any way you see fit, so if you want a crossbow-wielding mage then go ahead and make one. That's one thing I like about the games: you CAN come up with these skill combinations that most games don't allow and "class" is more of a name than it is a fixed set of rules that define how you MUST play a character.

That said, it would be a nice touch to let your attributes affect crafting quality. For instance, maybe making plate mail takes Blacksmithing 4 (no idea if that's the actual requirement) but the resulting crafted plate mail could get better base stats if your Strength / Dexterity attributes were higher.

But that's not how it is. No big deal. Maybe the next game in the series will do something like that.
