My loading times are annoying long, especially for saves (seems to stop around 75% for a few dozen seconds every time). Does anybody know if extracting the .pak files (using the extractor tool from larian.com) would speed up loading times any?

I'm assuming that most of the wait is for decompression of the files since I'm running it from a SSD on a decently powerful (and modern) system.

Extracting the .pak files would increase the loading times. The reason is that there are thousands of small files in them, and even with an SSD opening thousands of different files is very slow (you need separate operating system calls to find, open, read and close each one of them).
