i may be to dumb to see whats wrong. i bought it 3 days ago with my friend for playing coop.
we love the game so far the first was good but i really beginn to feels scamed with the second one...
why the hell cant we use direct connect ? how can direct connect be an issu from the larian mp server when u (or ur friends) host a server about there PCs! i dont really ge it and i am totally disapointed from this

Maybe u all had some tipps how we can play togehter without that broken dc
The Problem with dc and the Servers is, even though you host the game, you still use the server as a network to connect. Like Hamachi.

Thats why you can still play useing programms like Hamachi or Tunngle.
Just use a host's IP address in direct connect. This way it's work fine.

It's can be a port forwarding's or firewall's issues. Is game added on your firewall white list? Is UPnP is enabled on your router? If not, try forwarding for these port ranges:
23243 - 23252 //Ports for game's client
23253 - 23262 //Ports for the server
Alternatively, simple try to switch who is hosting the game.

Hi.
Same problem here.
UPNP enabled on both sides. Firewalls disabled completely for testing purposes and still error no matter who hosts and who tries to join.

Stupid question - are you sure that you give or receive a external IP address? Is game's versions same for you and your friends?

For both (GOG and STEAM) this option when checking gives error 'Changing direct connect settings failed'.
But shouldnt connection through IP be independent from 'direct connect'?

Nope, it's still direct connect. Try running game as admin.
And try this - let the host start the game, then let others try to connect to game while the host is in character creation menu.
Also, can you see another player's games in multiplayer lobby?

I can see GOG games and my friend can see STEAM games but we both got error connecting to global chat.
Run As Administrator - no change.

I can read on forums that this patch from two days ago has broken something so probably will have to wait for new patch....

Can you change other in-game settings? If not, try to create another player profile using only english letters.
Well, i can say for myself - i had played with friend using IP direct connect with both this and previous patches. There's sort of workaround here - just use any virtual LAN software( hamachi, tunngle w/e) and play.
Direct Connect works fine for me. Of course, we're on the same LAN, but the principle should be the same anywhere. Direct Connect should have nothing at all to do with Larian's servers or anyone elses - as long as your ports are forwarded properly or you are on the same LAN (assuming it's properly configured), Direct Connect should always work.

If it's got dependencies beyond that, it's not really Direct Connect, now is it?
