Before I start this is most likely a windows issue (99% sure it is) but i'd though I'd ask te community as somebody else may have a solution.

My PC is a 1 year old alienware with win 10 and in the last year I have 1 one or 2 blue scrren errors.

At E3 Microsoft announced the Xbox game pass for PC and I thought that sounds like something I want and signed up.

I needed to update my version of windows for he new Xbox game pass app to work and did so.

Installed the app and metro exodus and no problems and when I went back to DOS EE I was getting blue screens all over about 5 mins into the game, changed saves, profiles, checked drivers updated windows no luck.

Rolled back windows with no obvious solution and DOS EE works again but I can't use the Xbox Game Pass app.

So any ideas? Or do I just need to wait for MS to roll out the next big build of win 10?

Buying a really expensive PC with the selling point on games and I would have hoped that the games would have worked on it without win 10 getting in the way.

Were there any errors or specific dll files listed on the blue screens?

If your computer is set to reboot on BSODs, disable that so you can see any error messages, if you update again to troubleshoot this.
In Win 10, open the Start menu (or WinKey+S), type cmd then right click 'Command Prompt' in the search results and select 'Run as administrator'. At the command prompt, type the following command (copy and right click to paste into the window) to disable the reboots (repeat it using 'True' to enable it again).
wmic RecoverOS set AutoReboot = False

Did you try running the game in a compatibility mode, etc? Right click the game executable, select Properties, switch to the Compatibility tab and check off the 'Override high DPI scaling behavior' option (set it to Application), maybe run as administrator and disable fullscreen optimization, and set a Win 7 or 8 compatibility mode.

Did you try doing a clean boot and then test the game? It is possible there was a specific updated service or background program causing the conflict.
Click Start, or hit WinKey-R, type in msconfig and hit enter; in the General tab, click Selective Startup, uncheck Load startup items (if required) and leave Load system services and Use original boot configuration options checked. Next, click on the Services tab, check the box to Hide all Microsoft services, then click the Disable All button (maybe make a note of which are currently enabled/disabled), then click OK and reboot the computer.
Run msconfig again to switch back to the normal boot configuration.

Thanks for the reply, all the errors were the generic error Page Fault in non page area and until I went to Win 10 1903 nothing like this was occuring.

So far the game has been solid in 1803 and so I'll keep with that build until I finish the game.

The computer has been bought just to play games and all I have had is about a dozen games installed over the year and as far as I was aware it's as clean as it can get without the hassle of a full reinstall which I am loath to do as I have a five year Dell warranty and I don't really want to muck about with it.

Good job I had acronis as a backup to roll back just in case windows decides to throw a wobbly.

But again thanks for the suggestions and I'll look at this again if I have issues when the win10 rollout hits my PC again.
