StoneFist: You will see this Order:
Story
Game Manager
Arena
Options
Mods
Profiles
Etc.

Click Mods and it will take you to the manage Mods screen. Under that is a Set Load Order Screen. if you have successfully downloaded and installed mods into your Mods file the mods should show up in the Set Load Order screen. Under this screen is a Confirm button.

Click Confirm, exit game and restart the game. The mods should then be working.
My problem is that the Mods aren't appearing there ("I can't see the mods in the game under the Mods menu") after placing them in the various folders in my post.
Weird. Since your version (like mine) is the Definitive Edition are all the mods you down loaded specified for the Definitive edition? Earlier mods that were designed for the original Classic Edition will not work with the Definitive Edition.

They are. It's the strangest thing. Everything I've read indicates I've done everything right, so it's very perplexing.
Here is what I would suggest: 1) Post on the official Larian Forums your issue and how you did everything correctly but how the Mods are not working and/or 2) see if the Nexus community can help you out. keed us updated when you resolve it and how. Good luck.

This is the only place I've seen this issue brought up and it's the same one I've been having. Mods are all DE, all in the right place, pak files, but they just dont show up in the in-game mods menu. Ive tried everything I could think of but they just don't appear.

If you haven't tried it yet go to the official Larian forums and post your issue there. I find they are pretty good at responding. If they don't I'd put in a support ticket.

Hi there!

I am aware this is an outdated post, but maybe it'll help someone still. I just ran into the same problem, the standard solution using a "mods" folder doesn't seem to work. What you must do now is copy your .pak files DIRECTLY into the DATA folder WITHIN the DEFED folder.

This will look something like this: ....\Divinity - Original Sin 2\DefEd\Data

If you copy them into the main data folder they also don't show up, make sure they're in the DefEd Data folder and they show up and work just fine.

Best regards,

chwat.

Good reply. Very helpful. Too bad we can't pin it.

Thanks for this! I am finally able to have them show up in the Mod's tab on the Maine Menu - but they are in all red and not working in the game. Thoughts?

OK! My bad. Just realized that I have DE and didn't load the DE versions. All is well. Regards

AnthonyHoban: no mods show up
What mods are you trying? Pak files should go in the "..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\Mods' folder.

Try deleting or renaming the modsettings.lsx in your profile folder (..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\PlayerProfiles\<ProfileName>), to get the game to recreate it the next time it is started.
Just picked up DOS2 DE today and am having the same issue. Vortex seems to be very rubbish at installing the mods.

Files show up in sub folders of the documents/Larian Studios/.../Mods folder with a 'folder managed by Vortex' text file with more sub folders for the mod files themselves(sometimes for both the DE and classic versions) - however the mod does not show up as activatable when launching the game.

Manually copying the .PAK file out of the sub folder into the /Mods folder results in the mod showing up. Examples of mods having this issue - Crafting Overhaul[DE], Combat Sneak DE, Civility and Grace [DE]

No idea yet whether complex texture replace mods are installing or not.
