I bought 3 new Warfare skillbooks in Fort Joy after leveling up (Enrage, Whirlwind, and Crippling Blow) from the Lizard in the Elf cave. I did not check to see if I had 3 open memory slots but I knew I had at least a couple empties available.

I "learned" all three in the inventory menu, but quickly found out I had only two slots open afterwards. I did this without checking first because I assumed (yeah yeah) that the game wouldn't allow me to use a skillbook if there wasn't a slot for it.

I waited at first, thinking maybe when I got another slot it would already be filling it, but nope. I found a ring RIGHT after that added +1 Wits, put it on and checked - blank slot.

So, I wasted a skillbook.


Again, this might not be a bug exactly, but please in a future patch it would be great if it wouldn't allow this - the same way a book can't be used if you don't meet the requirements.

I can't be the first to have done this, so you likely already know about it.

For those players who didn't, you've been warned - don't be lazy and assume things like me.

I'm pretty sure you didn't waste a skillbook. You just have to add it to your memorized skills in your Skill Panel (Hotkey K). You can technically learn all the skills in the game, but only use a certain amount. The Memory attribute grants you additional Memory Slots, not Wits.

Thanks, I'm using a gamepad and didn't even know about that screen - my skills panel only shows the screen with slots in it ... probably have to use the l/r bumpers ...

EDIT: On the subject of memorized skills, do you know if a respec after leaving the island erases everything you've learned like the first game did? Want to know if I should save skill books I don't need to learn right away or not ... thanks again.
