Sarnum: As consumers we shouldn't be wondering who's at fault here, both Larian and GOG messed up and something needs to be done. This is not a great way to support a product from GOG standpoint, nor is it a great advertisement to Larian as a studio.
They don't care about users who don't use Galaxy

Er no , if some users challenge them in justice, they will loose, i checked the EULA, the client isn't required ; the wording is : "You can use" not "You must install it" ...They choosed to continue to provide offline installers & patches....the day they start to stop to provide offline installers, i will stop to buy anything from them.

I accept some delays & drawbacks. (anyway since quite some time, there always have been quite some delays in patching due to the quantity of games). I understand in a way the client, but not how it's handled actually. vs the offline installers for major games (AAA)

Their EULA is very readable vs some others -_-

Patch v3.0.30.9667 - HDR support and Sir Lora unlockable throughout the game!
11 October - Larian_Octaaf
Hi Everyone,

With this larger patch we are fixing a number of issues reported by the community, but also adding support for HDR screens on the latest Windows 10 version. Sir Lora has also been found as a stowaway on the Lady Vengeance. He is now unlockable even after you arrive in Act Two.

We hope the road in Rivellon is slightly less bumpy thanks to this update. If you do still experience issues, please let us know!

Thanks,

Larian Crew

Updates:

Added an extra language: Traditional Chinese
Added HDR support for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and above
Sir Lora is now unlockable anywhere in the game instead of only during Act One - he was bravely hiding on the Lady Vengeance.
From the gameplay options screen, your party can now be moved with the in-game cursor with a controller
Weapons no longer lose durability on a miss
Condensed the amount of recipes by grouping ingredient types
Optimized texture streaming
NPCs in story mode deal less damage at high levels

The gigantic nameplates that appear in combat are absolute garbage. What the hell were they thinking?!

Is the new update available for us sad-sack offline peons, or do we again have to download the full installer?

I will literally consume more bandwidth and am willing to pay more, to NOT use a client.

Just curious as to why. GOG Galaxy is a really good client in my opinion, especially since, you know, the games are all DRM-free. You only would have to open it to install updates. Keeps track of your games quite well.

1. I feel using Steam-like clients is eventually a nice step towards online-DRM a la Steam. Yes, I know Galaxy does not work like that, it works the way you described. But I'm looking more longterm, 5 years from now, they can in theory say "well, 90% of the userbase uses Galaxy, now everyone HAS to be logged into it to provide better data and make sure everyone is getting participation trophies..er, achievements" and take away offline installers. I want to do my part to hopefully prevent that, as I view it as a bleak outcome (one that would lose my interest as a customer). I know they have said that Galaxy will always be optional so maybe it is just me not having a lot of faith. But I am entitled to not have faith in them to keep a promise! This means so much to me because the most valuable thing about this site is not the client or the social features; it is the DRM-free offline installers.

2. I don't want to support online multiplayer DRM. In the vast majority of cases, it looks like games have online multiplayer through Galaxy, with no offline/LAN options. I don't care if this is developer oversight or intentional by GOG, but I reject it either way. And yes I understand not having the Galaxy multiplayer means some games wouldn't be here, or wouldn't have multiplayer. Both of those outcomes would be preferred to me since they are in keeping with the spirit of this site.

3. I have no need or desire to use a client to game.

4. I keep track of my games quite well.

5. More generally, I don't want to encourage developer laziness. I loathe the modern mentality of releasing broken games and "just download the patch!". What I deem "update culture". The sad thing is that people encourage this behavior by constantly insisting on patches and updates, when they should be insisting on complete, non-broken games. Other than compatibility patches for old games to play on newer systems, I feel update culture is antithetical to the idea of game preservation. It is even worse if devs feel the only option is to send the update to a client service like Galaxy.

You asked :)

EDIT: And I just received an update flag for this game. You guessed it, just the same massive entire installer download over again.

Hello, I am a loyal customer who has gave my trust to your studio and purchased this great game on here. I would like to know why the hotfix and patch from last week, as well as the patches before then, are not made available as downloads outside of Galaxy client. In other words, to use "offline backup installers", I am not seeing where I can download any hotfix or patch, only the entire massive 40-something GB download. In other words, every time there is an update, users like me have to download the whole thing. Surely this feedback has been apparent given I am not the only user posting about it. So I do not hold out hope it will even change at this rate. I am just curious if you can please provide clarity on whether this is an oversight on your end or a delay on GOG's end?

I'm not the person to report this to, just another user in the same boat as you.

I'm also afraid that posting in GOG's forum isn't going to make a difference. We should all file a support ticket, AND contact Larian. Perhaps, if enough people do it, something will change.

Oh whoops, my apologies for the oversight. I guess I should've known better than thinking that was a dev post, haha (since we see users documenting changes themselves rather than always hearing from devs).

No need for apologies (isn't the first time this is happening). I just thought to steer you in the right direction instead of letting you wonder.
