There seem to be a bug with Amyro, an npc important for the "imprisoned elf" quest.

Apparently, if you free Amyro after you remove your collar, he will get bugged and be stuck in a loop between his cage, and the cave he is supposed to go to. It goes like this~

He will start going towards the cave, he will notice your missing collar and comment on it, the ai will bug out, and he will start going back to his cage. If you move away so that he doesn't notice you on his way to the cave, he will enter it but won't go where he is supposed to go. Instead, he will be stuck at the cave entrance, and as soon as you enter, he will again make the comment about your missing collar, and go back to his cage again, and the loop goes on and on.

If you try and wait for him in the cave where he is supposed to go, he will never enter, but again will be stuck at the entrance, this time on the outside.

So it is not a game breaking bug, but it is definitely an important quest breaking bug, since it adds up to the main story. Fortunately, it is not required for you to progress.

EDIT:

I found a workaround. If you happen upon this bug, detach the character without the collar from the party, and send in the cave a character with the collar. Amyro will proceed as intended, and allow you to finish the quest.

Did it show as completed (shown as "(closed)" in the log) or does it still show the quest markers for him on the minimap? I have been able to get xp and quest rewards from it but the log doesn't update. Other people have been getting this problem too (other sidequests included) and I think a patch is coming soon for it. Main quest seems to be fine.
Interesting. The collar removal I mean.

I'm waiting to do it until after I finish as many Fort Joy quests and companion quest steps until they have been exhausted for fear that the Magisters will notice and interfere with doing so.

Do the Magisters even notice? Or only if you talk to them with it off?

I think it only says "closed", and the quest remains in my log, it is not archived. But this happens for at least 50% of my quests. To be honest, i am not sure if the quest is actually finished, or there is more to it, seeing as some of the quests go on and get archived. I assume it is a bug though.

The magisters will notice it, and there is more to it, don't want to spoil it. Though i imagine some may find it annoying.
Thanks for not spoiling it :)

after I get as much xp as possible from other quests I'll probably find out what you aren't spoiling :)
