pereh: The game launcher window comes up, but when I click on 'Play Distant Worlds', a small window with "Distant Worlds Universe" comes up, vanishes, and I get the launcher window again.
Any ideas what might be wrong? And does the GOG version of this game install exactly the same contents as the version that is sold on the Matrix website (for instance, I miss the DirectX distribution folder)?

System: Win 7 SP1 Pro 64-bit.

Thanks,
Peter.

WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].

So is installing DirectX 10 the solution, or setting the mentioned registry key; or maybe both?
I am not sure but do you have Windows Media Player installed? The reason I am asking is that the game requires the presence of WMP since I presume it makes use of some of its libraries.
