I have a similar problem. I can't save or quit the game. Many keys work I think but I can't save or quit. Where do I find what the controls are supposed to be?

My system is a Macbook Pro running Sierra.

I found a PDF with the instructions when I downloaded the game. It tells you all of the Keys you should be using.

Thanks for that. I found it buried in the menus. Now if I could just figure out some of these puzzles ...
Well, I thought I was saving my game but when I started the game again they were not there.

I can see the files in the app's folder unser Resources but the game doesn't see them.

Anyone have a magic incantation to be able to load save games?
I found out about the save games.

On my system it appears there are TWO games available and the saves are only under one of them.

If you use F5 then Retrun To Launcher I see two games. Select one then choose Load and you might see your games. If not choose the other one and that might be where they are. On my system it is the second game that has all the saves.
I think I figured it out!
I have to use the function key. I'm a little slow when it comes to PC gaming. I can save f5 with my function key.
Did you figure out the gaming controls? I can list them out from the PC manual if you need them.
Thank you for your help.
After starting the game, If you hit F5 to get to the launcher then click 'Help' from the options there, you can see a list of controls and keyboard shortcuts to save and load also.

Besides manually saving/loading through the launcher as you've mentioned, the game also uses autosaves every so often. I think by default it's every 5 min, but that can be adjusted from somewhere within the Scummvm launcher.

Keyboard shortcuts are also available: Press the 'Alt' key simultaneously with 0-9 to "Save game state 1-10".
To load the game, it's the 'Ctrl' key pressed with a key from 0-9 to load the corresponding save slot..

Personally, I prefer doing it the - F5, then click save - way, because with keyboard shortcuts it's very easy to slip-up and accidentally load instead of saving or overwrite the wrong slots if you're not careful. I don't trust myself, so I do it the long way :D

By the way, the controls are different from what the manual describes because it uses this 'ScummVM' thingimewotsit; an emulator designed with more modern operating systems and displays in mind than these old point & click games were originally designed for. These sorts of games all use ScummVM's own universal keys for saving and loading I suppose.

This is my first time playing a game powered by ScummVM, so I'm still getting the hang of it too. If you root around under the 'Help' section of the launcher you'll see there are key commands and settings to adjust graphical filters and scalers too!

Official website: http://scummvm.org/
You'll find a ton of info there.
