I was so excited to try this, but while in my head I imagined some clean mouse control, the game feels more like the mouse is wrestling for control against the physics engine. I'd just change to keyboard VSIM, but not only do I have to deal with rollover, it just becomes a matter of swinging wildly for the best results.
Does mouse control get better, is there something I'm missing or a mod that fixes it? My main problem is that swinging the mouse only actually swings 50% of the time, the rest of the time the character just moves the sword in seemingly random directions or doesn't even swing at all.
I also found the mouse control pretty bad. Stuck to keyboard and worked fine with the 3 pre-defined moves. The game is mostly about footwork and timing anyway, so 3 directions are very sufficient.

It just seems that the mouse control is not free but follows certain paths. And moving the mouse in the way to make the swing move in the direction you want to is extremely inconsistent/difficult.

I found the mouse combat to feel bad and ineffective. The predefined keys also aren't good. The sword doesn't swing fast enough to really do any damage unless you turn the guy's body at the same time that you swing, but it's all real fiddly. Basically combat is just bad and doesn't work in this game. Too bad as I really like everything thing else about it.
Yeah mouse control manages to be more difficult than the regular keyboard one haha unfortunately the developers couldn't figure out a way to make it intuitive like Skyward Sword ended up doing years later

If you're willing to stick to keyboard though, the combat works well enough throughout the game. Just remember to hold numpad 0 to extend your character's arm when swinging, that will help a lot with hitting enemies

Edit: Crap. Didn't realize the original post was from 2020 haha ah well.
