And this means what, exactly?
The famous dupe glitch that allows you to amass vast wealth. ;)

Hastur.: The famous dupe glitch that allows you to amass vast wealth. ;)
Thanks, I should have clarified. It's where you can click a potion from your potions bar while picking up an item on the ground and the potion will become a duplicate of the item.

I was wondering how long before someone mentioned it. I was pleasantly surprised ;D

Cheaters are a plague for video games so no reasons to evoke a way to cheat on Diablo. And duping is cheating.

It was 'patched' .... somehow, just not in a way you mau like:
Whenever an item drops on the ground it checks for double creation UIDs and destroys the item just dropped if there is more than one item having that UID
And duping is cheating.
Definitely agreed.
Cheaters are a plague for video games
Hey now, cheating, bug exploits, etc. have a long and illustrious history in video gaming, and meta-gaming can often breathe new life into tired or empty games (not that Diablo is tired or empty). Exploiting unintended elements basically gives birth to emergent gameplay, which to my mind is the most vibrant force in gaming.

Cheating is fine, and fun!

Griefing is what's shitty. So long as a player is only changing their own experience, or is doing so with consenting others, why should we care? Sometimes, you just want a lvl20 character _right now_, so go ahead and hack.
This was going to be the first thing I tried. xD
So then the old trainer programs should still work.

Incoming Godly God plate of the Gods.
I was curious whether this still worked, but after sinking a handful of hours into it I can't say it would help me. The only reason I could see using it at the moment is to let me drop most of my 50K in gold and dupe it later so it isn't eating up my inventory.
Eh, I don't see duping as a huge deal. Just don't be a "Richard" about it.

In co-op games it doesn't really hurt the other players, other than when you occasionally have a accidentally a friendly fire accident. But I think you don't really need to dupe as you can grind the gold and items through replaying the game over and over, growing more powerful each time.

In single-player I think it is fine. The enemies don't re-spawn so the exp and gold is finite, and Griswold's store has a fixed inventory that doesn't change so RNG can screw you over pretty bad. If a player wants to cheat a bit then they should go ahead and dupe those elixirs/rings for some gold. All that matters that they are having fun playing the game the way they want. Because I still remember the time when I was a complete newbie and got to a point where I could not buy even a single health potion and I was nowhere near the end of the game and I had to start over. :D

Sure, if you cheat online, trade with players using duped items or give yourself an unfair advantage and use them to grief others then that is a sh*BLEEP*tty thing to do.
Griswold's store changes with every character levelup.

Yup.

Either way most of your cash should go to potions/books/repairs anyway. Getting broke to buy that axe you'll throw away level later because something far better dropped is usually not worth it.

Though Diablo1 does provide you with tons of gold and loot it doesn't distribute it evenly. Doing best with what you got is part of the charm gor me, but everyone should play how he likes.

As said a wise man: "If you don't have a brain, don't play Diablo"

For example I was blocked on level 10 and level 12 by unique monsters with their minions and only crowd control tactics permitted me to defeat them. A no brain player would only start a new game.
