Hello

I'm playing Single Player as Warrior. I just finished the game on Nightmare (32 level) and I want to play on Hell difficulty.

The problem is: I need to play Multiplayer and achieve 30 level in order to play Hell in Single player.

I don't wanna waste time so... can someone help and send me his multiplayer save file?? (only to load my char. on Single).

I would be very grateful :).

Use DevilutionX, you can select difficulty from the single-player menu and it remembers it for the save game so you don't have to do it each time you load.

Thanks for your help.

I tried to open this exe file and it doesn't work. So, where should I unzip it in order to work? I don't wanna broke my saves or anything ;).

I have found this: https://github.com/diasurgical/devilutionX and still doesn't work... multiplayer save would be a better idea without combining :).

What do you mean when you say it doesn't work. Did you follow the Readme? Do you get an error. It doesn't break your saves.

"Copy diabdat.mpq from your CD or GoG installation (or extract it from the GoG installer) to the DevilutionX install folder or data folder; make sure it is all lowercase" ---> I extracted it from GoG installer and copy to the devilutionx-windows-i386 folder

"Install SDL2, SDL2_mixer and SDL2_ttf " --> I also did this and send this files to the devilutionx-windows-i386 folder

"Run ./devilutionx" --> left mouse click on the exe file and it doesn’t work (The application doesn’t work correctly. Click OK.

So what am I doing wrong? (I'm playing on Windows 7)

and yes - I read two Readme files - I can't see any instructions there how to install, where to click and where to put all the files

Any ideas? :)
"The application doesn’t work correctly."

Is that the actual error message you get?

The sdl2 dlls are included with the windows builds so no need to download or install them your self. I'm guessing you downloaded 64bit versions which won't work with the windows build since it's 32bit.

All you need to do is extract the devilutionX-windows zip, copy the mpq and double click the exe

I put all the files into the:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\diasurgical\devilution

I changed sdl2 files to 32bit.

I change DIABDAT.MPQ to diabdat.mpq and copied to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\diasurgical\devilution

I have diablo + gog on E disc installed earlier.

Still doesn't work.

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\diasurgical\devilution probably isn't correct. The path is different for various versions of windows afaik.

Check where it generated the diablo.ini, that would be the correct folder.

Also in case you are doing something silly like running it in admin or compat mode, don't.

Or just put the mpq next to the exe.

Could you check the md5 value of your mpq, then I can confirm if it is the right one.

E:\Diablo 1 GOG\Diablo - I put everything from the devilution folder here (there was diablo.ini in this folder).

Still the same problem.
DevilutionX generates its own diablo.ini file in %AppData%, that's the one you should be looking for.

Maybe try a path without spaces in it.

You can use Md5Checker to display the MD5 for your mpq file: http://getmd5checker.com/

I erased the spaces - still nothing.

I installed md5 program, open the mpq file and I have something like this:

011BC6518E6166206231080A4440B373
It this what you were asking? Cause I don't have any more ideas how to open it.
The good news is that you are using the right mpq file.

I don't know what the reason is that the application can't see it. I would guess you are either putting it in the wrong folder, it has the wrong file permission compared to the user you are running the exe as.

Did you ever check to see if the diablo.ini file was generated in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\diasurgical\devilution to verify that this is the correct location on your machine?

Try entering %AppData% in the file manager address line, that should take you to the location of AppData on your machine.

Ok, I've enter %AppData% and it's here: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming

There is also a devilution folder there. I copied this mpq file there and still doesn't work.
